About The Position

The District Technology Coordinator leads and supports the district's technology initiatives, managing services, facilities, budgets, equipment, personnel, and the operation of student and administrative computer systems. Reporting to the Superintendent or designee, the Coordinator oversees the district’s technology plan, manages and oversees technology implementation and upgrades, ensures routine maintenance is performed, provides expert technical support, and advises on networking infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Operating systems, software applications, and their use in an educational context.
  • Knowledge of Budget management and inventory control procedures.
  • Knowledge of Digital citizenship and responsible social media usage.
  • Ability to motivate and support others to achieve objectives.
  • Ability to design and conduct effective in-service programs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and take initiative in developing new programs.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in educational technology or a related field is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 5-7 years of experience is preferred, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role, including experience managing or overseeing technology projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Technology or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, updates, and implements the district's Educational Technology Plan, ensuring it aligns with district goals and resource availability.
  • Coordinates the integration of technology to enhance educational outcomes and operational efficiency across the district.
  • Coordinates and directs the activities of the Site Technology Teams to ensure effective collaboration and the successful implementation of technology initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary technology liaison between the district and the Superintendent or designee, ensuring that technology strategies align with district goals.
  • Facilitates awareness and communicates requirements for technology-related training programs for faculty and staff, ensuring they are informed about the effective use of digital tools and resources.
  • Serves as a resource for curriculum personnel and faculty on technology integration, information literacy, and ethical use of technology.
  • Provides technical support to district end-users, ensuring timely resolution of hardware and software issues.
  • Manages and oversees the district's networking infrastructure to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable operations.
  • Administers and maintains district servers, ensuring optimal performance, security, and regular updates.
  • Oversees the administration of the district's systems and networks, including WAN, to support educational and management services.
  • Implements and manages routine maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery plans for all critical systems.
  • Oversees the district’s Acceptable Use Policy for network access and ensures compliance with district guidelines.
  • Establishes and maintains district technology standards, including the procurement of hardware and software.
  • Acts as the liaison with hardware and software vendors, managing projects that are contracted out of the district.
  • Collaborates with vendors to complete technology projects, ensuring they meet district standards and timelines.
  • Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and evaluates their potential impact on district operations.
  • Plans, organizes, and oversees the implementation of major system upgrades and installations.
  • Oversees the district inventory of technology hardware and software, ensuring effective asset management.
  • Prepares and submits grant proposals related to technology to secure additional funding and resources.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the SPARCC Director or local Superintendent.
