About The Position

As an innovation leader, Gates is looking for ambitious, forward-thinking, open-minded, and well-rounded individuals to join their global team as a District Sales Manager. This role is a remote position based out of the employee's home office, requiring travel within the assigned territory of Ontario. The primary responsibility is to sell and promote Gates Fluid Power and Power Transmission product lines. The role involves meeting or exceeding annual sales quotas and achieving strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals. Success will be achieved through a consultative selling approach, leveraging technical expertise, and developing strong relationships with distributors and end-users. The District Sales Manager will research customer needs, understand their applications, and apply Gates technologies to improve their cost of ownership and productivity. Collaboration with various business functions within Gates is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • 3 years of progressive sales experience or equivalent industry knowledge
  • High school degree or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Must be proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to drive long distances for extended periods of time
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • College degree in a business or engineering field is preferred.
  • Experience in selling Fluid Power and/or Power Transmission products is highly preferred
  • Firm understanding of the MRO business is preferred
  • CRM experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Developing and executing growth strategies for both existing accounts as well as new prospective customers.
  • Accelerating growth of new Gates products and solutions.
  • Pursuing opportunities to expand our business in new markets.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments within our target markets.
  • Making regular sales calls to pursue and discuss opportunities, providing training and other technical support, and increasing overall mind share.
  • Following up on leads (both self-generated and provided through marketing initiatives).
  • Timely and accurate utilization of our CRM systems. Utilizes Oracle Sales Cloud to track all related activity/opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining short, mid, and long-term sales plans.
  • Communicating high value sales activity to contribute to effective product and service planning.
  • Providing top-quality, Gates customer service for all clients and prospects.
  • Monitoring and communicating competitive activities to identify opportunities and/or countermeasures.
  • Successfully grow sales in all Heavy Duty and Hydraulic product families with current customers, and to expand selling opportunities in other fleet, heavy-duty, and hydraulic niche markets.
  • Prospecting new HD Distributor opportunities.
  • Learning and developing necessary product knowledge, selling skills, and overall hydraulic operation knowledge to be competent in selling heavy duty and hydraulic products.
  • Being aware of changing conditions and opportunities in your channel and territory which requires development of information sources among customers, prospects, and other industry personnel.
