About The Position

District Chef needed for school food service program in the Somerset County, NJ area. This is a full-time, day shift position, Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends required for catering events. The role involves overseeing and training cooks in each school within the district, ensuring proper cooking procedures and food presentation are followed. The ideal candidate will have culinary experience, be willing to travel within the school district, and be able to obtain the necessary documentation to work in schools. Chef testing may be administered.

Requirements

• Culinary experience is required.
• Must be willing to travel within the school district.
• ServSafe® certification required.
• Must have experience in catering.
• Must have experience in satellite preparation.
• Must be able to obtain the proper documentation to work in schools.

Nice To Haves

• K-12 experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and train cooks in each school within the district.
• Ensure proper cooking procedures and presentation of food is being observed.
• Create different menu items while adhering to school food service guidelines (NSLP).
• Place food orders.
• Conduct monthly inventory.
• Use of personal protective equipment at all times.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment.
