About The Position

GEMCO Medical, a division of GEMCORE, is a growing healthcare distribution company that ships more than 15,000 packages a day. The Distribution Supervisor manages daily activities in the distribution center for Warehouse Associates who pick, pack, and ship healthcare products and medical supplies. The role also helps welcome new employees and supports their engagement with the company culture. The position offers growth potential and ongoing training and development.

The Distribution Center is described as clean and comfortable, air-conditioned in summer and heated in winter. Protective clothing is not required; comfortable clothing such as sneakers, T-shirts, and jeans is acceptable. The position is located in Hudson, Ohio, and follows a Monday-through-Friday afternoon schedule from 12:15 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in a distribution environment.
• At least 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Ability to give clear direction and provide effective training.
• Ability to coach and motivate direct reports to achieve optimal productivity and build highly functioning teams.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency in math, computer software, and warehouse management systems.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of hazardous materials and protected freight shipping requirements.
• Knowledge of OSHA compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Supervise shipping and receiving activities using best practices and established standards.
• Manage Warehouse Associate productivity across cross-functional teams.
• Recommend process improvements and more efficient methods.
• Establish standards and procedures.
• Assist with and develop knowledge of inventory control.
• Determine the best transportation methods for packages and truckload shipments.
• Help maintain equipment so it is fully functional and safe to operate.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to department personnel.
• Train and acclimate new hires to warehouse procedures and methods.
