About The Position

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor to lead electric utility distribution design engineering and ensure high-quality project delivery. The role follows a hybrid work model, with three days per week in the office and two days per week working remotely. The supervisor leads a team of 5–8 engineers developing design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems operating from 4 kV through 138 kV. Work includes programmatic projects such as overloaded transformers, inspection and maintenance, joint use, grid hardening and reliability, substation optimization, and street lighting. Work packages are developed using GIS, CAD, Work Management Systems, and client systems, applying relevant construction standards. The position performs and oversees engineering calculations, reviews designs for quality and constructability, coordinates permitting and right-of-way activities, and provides engineering support during construction. The supervisor works under an Engineering Manager and communicates project progress, technical issues, and schedules to clients. Office and field work are both expected; overnight travel may be necessary, and the posting estimates travel at 15–25%.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to carefully review other engineers’ designs for errors.
  • Some previous experience monitoring scopes and tracking others’ work progress.
  • Willingness to perform both office and field work; overnight travel may be necessary, with estimated travel of 15–25%.
