About The Position

Fastenal is hiring a part-time Distribution Center Recycling Support employee at its Winona, Minnesota distribution center. The role assists with facility maintenance and recycling of cardboard, plastic, metals, and wood pallets, helping reduce the distribution center’s carbon footprint. The position may offer a flexible schedule after onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals. The schedule is listed as 10–28 hours per week, with all hours available across the days of the week.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old due to the nature of the work.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Highly motivated, self-directed, and customer service oriented.
Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule and extra time as needed.
Willingness to stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift, slide, carry, and lower packages typically weighing 25–50 pounds and possibly up to 100 pounds.
Must pass the required drug screen in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Guam.

Previous forklift experience.

Responsibilities

Determine proper disposal methods.
Separate waste from recyclable materials.
Sort pallets and help ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the facility.
Operate and perform basic maintenance on balers.
Follow proper recycling techniques and facility rules and guidelines.
Work toward improving the company’s “Think Green” environment.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the work area.
Comply with health, safety, and sustainability rules and expectations.
Participate in activities and programs that support company health, safety, and sustainability objectives.
Learn, pass, and practice environmental health and safety trainings.
