Dispensing Pharmacist - Long Term Care - Full Time
About The Position
This full-time role is based in a closed-door, non-customer-facing Long Term Care pharmacy operated by Omnicare. Omnicare provides pharmacy services to skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, and other institutional care settings. The pharmacist provides routine and emergency drug screening, information, order processing, and dispensing services for multiple drug distribution systems, helping ensure medications reach customers efficiently and safely. The pharmacist supports pharmacy management’s goals and objectives, contributes to continuous improvement, quality, and service, and works as an integral member of the pharmacy team. The position is scheduled 2:30 p.m.–1:00 a.m. on a 7-on/7-off rotation, Monday through Sunday, for 35 hours per week. There is no on-call requirement. Following Omnicare’s sale by CVS Health, this role will be employed by Omnicare as an independent, standalone organization and will not remain within CVS Health. The position is benefit eligible.
Requirements
- Hold an active pharmacist license in Virginia and be in good standing.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy.
Nice To Haves
- Long Term Care pharmacy experience.
- IV certification or experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate entry of orders.
- Maintain pharmacy security.
- Adhere to required delivery schedules.
- Verify technician-entered orders for accuracy.
- Check new and refill labels and orders for completeness and precision.
- Check drug packaging and labeling for content and accuracy.
- Prepare and/or supervise sterile IV drug products or solutions, if required.
- Assist in maintaining perpetual inventory for Schedule II drugs.
- Apply knowledge of DEA and state laws regarding controlled-drug dispensing.
- Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during scheduled rotations based on business needs.
- Follow applicable state and government regulations, including HIPAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned; duties may vary by location.
- Prioritize workflow and provide excellent service while supporting continuous improvement, quality, and service.
