About The Position

This full-time pharmacist role is based in a closed-door, non-customer-facing long-term care pharmacy. The pharmacist provides routine and emergency drug screening, information, order processing, and dispensing services for drug distribution systems serving long-term care centers. The role supports pharmacy management’s goals and objectives and emphasizes accurate, efficient, and safe service. The position is an overnight 7-on/7-off schedule, Monday through Sunday, 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., with no on-call requirement. Evening, weekend, and holiday coverage is provided during scheduled rotations based on business needs. The pharmacist is employed by Omnicare, which is continuing as an independent organization following its sale by CVS Health.

Requirements

Active pharmacist license in Texas, in good standing.
IV certification or willingness to obtain IV certification.
Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Nice To Haves

Long-term care pharmacy experience.
Immunization certification or willingness to become immunization certified.

Responsibilities

Ensure accurate entry of orders.
Maintain pharmacy security.
Adhere to required delivery schedules.
Verify orders entered by technician staff for accuracy.
Check new and refill labels and orders for completeness and precision.
Check drug packaging and labeling for content and accuracy.
Prepare and/or supervise sterile IV drug products or solutions, if required.
Assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for Schedule II drugs.
Apply knowledge of DEA and state law regarding controlled drug dispensing.
Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during scheduled rotations based on business needs.
Follow applicable state and government regulations, including HIPAA.
Perform other duties as assigned; duties vary by location.
Help foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and service, and prioritize pharmacy workflow.
