About The Position
Maersk Warehousing and Distribution USA LLC is seeking a Dispatcher to schedule drivers for freight deliveries and customer and vendor pickups. The Dispatcher serves as a liaison among customers, drivers, and management. The role is scheduled from 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sunday is closed, and Saturday and Monday are mandatory workdays.
Requirements
- Strong aptitude for time management.
- Excellent understanding of local and state traffic laws and regulations.
- Ability to make quick routing changes.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Deep understanding of computer software and technologies.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Responsibilities
- Schedule drivers to deliver freight or collect shipments and packages.
- Communicate with customers and vendors about freight details, pickup and drop-off times, and special requests.
- Plan predetermined routes for drivers.
- Identify traffic problems and develop corrective action plans to support on-time results.
- Prepare general dispatch documents for management and retrieve documents needed by employees, customers, or vendors.
- Maintain records of dispatch calls, driver routes and route changes, and delivery and pickup times.
- Monitor truck repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Log vendor complaints or concerns.
- Answer calls from vendors, customers, and management and assist them as needed.
- Perform other duties as requested.
