Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation•Toppenish, WA

About The Position

The Dispatcher works for the Tribal Police Department of Public Safety in a dispatch center that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The role involves efficiently multitasking across several technologies to answer emergency 911 and business calls, enter and update calls for service and self-initiated activity in a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, and transmit and receive radio communications with field personnel. Dispatchers are subject to rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role also includes greeting and screening visitors and callers, maintaining accurate records, using maps to verify service areas and addresses or provide directions, and complying with Yakama Nation rules and regulations. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, two years of office support experience, six months of radio communications and dispatch experience, and the ability to meet required training, certification, background, physical fitness, and conduct requirements. A valid Washington State driver's license, current basic first aid/CPR card, and minimum typing speed of 35 words per minute are required. Enrolled Yakama applicants receive preference, though all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
