About The Position

The Ready Mix Dispatcher is responsible for assisting in the management and efficient movement of orders within a central dispatch environment while effectively communicating with customers and other dispatchers in order to meet the needs of the market area. This role requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work both independently and in a team, and adherence to company policies and the Permian Basin Materials Code of Conduct. The dispatcher will develop strong customer relationships, possess extensive knowledge of PBM products and services, and be able to quote prices, calculate quantities, and schedule jobs efficiently. Key responsibilities include receiving and documenting customer orders, preparing delivery tickets, ensuring customer understanding of company policies, scheduling orders at the appropriate batch plant, monitoring daily schedules, communicating with drivers via radio, assigning projects, prioritizing truck loading, providing route instructions, and monitoring driver hours of service for DOT compliance. The role also involves maintaining a neat work environment and performing other duties as directed.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
2 years Dispatch experience
A minimum of 1 year dispatch experience with 1 year of dispatching ready mix preferred.
Microsoft Office Applications experience required
Candidate must be drug free.
Lift or carry up to 20 pounds from floor to 3’ – 5’ occasionally
Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 10 pounds frequently
Stand or walk for extended periods of time with occasional sitting
Climb up and down ladders occasionally
Use hands, fingers, and feet to operate heavy construction machinery
Travel safely while walking and while operating machinery over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
See, hear, and respond to verbal, visual, and written instructions and to moving heavy construction machinery
Wear proper protective equipment including hard hat, safety glasses, high visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, and gloves
Observe all company Safety policies on company premises and while operating heavy construction machinery
Continually work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions
Work safely in wet, muddy, and slippery conditions occasionally

Responsibilities

Assist in the management and efficient movement of orders within a central dispatch environment.

Develop extensive working relationships with customers to address needs, provide excellent customer service, and promote PBM brand awareness.
Have extensive knowledge of PBM Materials products and services to better supply customer needs.
Quote prices, calculate quantities needed, provide information on additives, and schedule customer jobs timely and efficiently.
Receive and document clear and concise instructions from customers regarding concrete mix, delivery address and conditions.
Prepare delivery tickets and related shipping documents.
Ensure the customer understands all relevant company policies such as will calls, load limits, additional products ordered, extra charges, payment expectations, and our driver’s responsibilities.
Schedule orders at the appropriate batch plant and verify all data is correct for the requested delivery to maximize daily productivity.
Monitor the daily delivery schedule, notify the necessary staff about any deviations or issues with a job.
Communicate clearly with drivers and others over the two-way radio according to Federal Communication Commission regulations and company policy.
Assign projects to drivers, prioritize loading of ready-mix trucks with customer’s orders, give clear route instructions to drivers and instruct drivers of delivery requirements and job site conditions.
Monitor driver hours of service to ensure compliance with all DOT rules and requirements.
Comply with all Safety, Health, Environmental and other Company policies and procedures.
Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
Perform other duties as directed.
