About The Position

The position of Dispatcher 1 MSD involves coordinating and validating all deliveries using the Company’s Transportation Management System (TMS). Key responsibilities include ensuring timely routing of trucks, managing load pick-up and drop-off points, and scheduling work. The role requires maintaining databases and activity logs, responding to calls and emails, and validating deliveries through the TMS software. Effective communication and collaboration with shift counterparts, especially during handovers, are crucial. The dispatcher will also handle continuous computer work across various programs, make time adjustments for conflicting dispatch and carrier times, and manage new loaders, carriers, and tools within the TMS. Coordination with team members to optimize movements and ensure proper billing is also a part of the role. The Dispatcher 1 MSD serves as a point of contact for resolving schedule issues in partnership with management and is expected to uphold the Company’s values, ethical, and legal standards, adhering to the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics.

Requirements

  • Able to withstand extended periods of time reviewing data on multiple computer monitors and/or large screens, varying in size
  • Excel at the ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered
  • Possess high level proficiency of Microsoft Office software, especially Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent networking and interpersonal skills complemented by the ability to develop and sustain strategic relationships with vendors, carriers, and drivers, as well as with all levels of employees within the Company
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills including ability to read, write and speak English, and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team, with minimal supervision
  • Willingness and ability to work long hours, extended shifts and weekends to include on-call rotation
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer systems capable to include Microsoft Suite

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and validate all deliveries using the Company’s Transportation Management System (TMS) to ensure timely routing of trucks, load pick up and drop off points, and generally scheduling of work
  • Maintain required databases and logs of activities performed during shift
  • Answer calls and respond to emails in a timely manner
  • Validate and receive all deliveries using the Company TMS software
  • Communicate and work effectively with shift opposite, particularly during handover
  • Continuous computer work within various programs, regularly shifting attention to various types of visual equipment
  • Make necessary time adjustments when dispatch times conflict with carrier times
  • Add new loaders, carriers, and tools into TMS software, when required
  • Coordinate with other team members to minimize unnecessary movements, over-ordered loads and ensure proper billing (i.e., customer paid trucking)
  • Be a point of contact and assist with resolving schedule issues in partnership with management
  • Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions
  • Adhere to the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
