About The Position

McDougall Energy is seeking an experienced Dispatch Supervisor to join their team at their new St Thomas Regional Office. This role involves providing day-to-day leadership and support to a team of dispatch professionals across multiple branches in the Southwest Region. The position focuses on optimizing delivery processes, ensuring efficient planning, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders. The Dispatch Supervisor will collaborate with various teams to develop efficient delivery plans, support the development of standard operating procedures, and provide KPI reporting. Flexibility, including after-hours and weekend availability, is required to support staff and ensure operational continuity. The role also involves coordinating team efforts for rack swings, managing monthly allocations for fuel and propane supply, and collaborating on demand forecasting.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Dispatch/ Logistics experience, with a minimum of 3 years at a Supervisory level.
  • Perform well under pressure with strong leadership and motivation skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and work ethic.
  • Ability and desire to work in a positive, fast-paced environment.
  • Expert knowledge in the transportation and logistics industry, including key terminology.

Nice To Haves

  • Community College Diploma in business, operations/logistics or related field preferred.
  • Working knowledge of the petroleum industry practices considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Providing day-to-day leadership, oversight, and support for a dedicated team of dispatch professionals across multiple branches in the Southwest Region.
  • Reviewing Smart Drops software to identify efficiencies, improve planning, and support the implementation of standardized processes across MEI.
  • Ensuring that delivery ticket cleanup is completed across branches to prevent duplicate deliveries, runouts, and service issues caused by system errors.
  • Working in partnership with Operations Managers and the Driver Supervisors to coordinate manpower requirements in response to customer demand and operational priorities.
  • Serving as a key point of contact for stakeholders, supporting clear communication and timely feedback related to delivery performance and customer service.
  • Collaborating with teams to develop efficient delivery plans and proactively implement processes and strategies that minimize disruption.
  • Supporting the Dispatch team in setting priorities and executing efficient delivery plans based on customer requirements and key operating variables such as weather, labour availability, hours of work, monitoring requirements, supply challenges, and seasonal demand fluctuations.
  • Assisting in the development and maintenance of standard operating procedures and, where applicable, work instructions to support consistent, predictable service delivery and adherence to company policies and processes.
  • Working with management to provide relevant KPI reporting, monitor performance trends, and support required follow-up actions.
  • Identifying and advancing opportunities for continuous improvement in processes, teamwork, and communication.
  • Providing flexibility and after-hours and weekend availability to support staff working non-traditional hours or overtime as needed.
  • Coordinating team efforts to ensure opportunities related to rack swings are captured and that required reporting is completed.
  • Ensuring department personnel adhere to company policies related to ethics, legal compliance, safety, customer service, and environmental protection standards.
  • Providing branch dispatch coverage during vacations, illness, and peak seasonal periods, including weekends as needed.
  • Working with branch managers and dispatchers on monthly allocations for fuel and propane supply.
  • Collaborating with bulk dispatchers on bulk plant replenishment and demand forecasting for propane and fuel.
  • Performing other duties as required.
