About The Position

Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated discipline program for the transportation department and campuses. This role involves planning, improving, and overseeing the discipline management program for the transportation department and serving as a liaison to the campuses. It also includes supervising the reporting and monitoring of student discipline, working with staff on investigations, and ensuring students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periods, including on district transportation. The position aims to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and ensures school and transportation safety rules are uniformly observed with appropriate and equitable student discipline. The coordinator will conduct conferences with parents, students, teachers, and transportation staff, and ensure timely and effective communication between campuses and the transportation department regarding discipline. Monitoring video recordings for discipline and behavior on the bus may also be required. Additionally, the role involves planning and providing staff development for teachers, administrators, and transportation staff on discipline management, and disseminating information on current research and developments in the field. The position also assists in communicating discipline program information to parents and community members, uses effective communication skills, stays informed of and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies, and maintains required physical and computerized records.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from accredited university
  • Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
  • Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
  • Ability to interpret data
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Three years teaching experience
  • Two years of experience with campus level discipline management
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure communication between campuses and the transportation department is timely and effective as it pertains to discipline.
  • Monitor video recordings as needed to investigate discipline and behavior on the bus.
  • Plan and provide staff development for teachers, administrators, and transportation staff on discipline management.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in area assigned.
  • Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school and transportation discipline programs.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
