About The Position

This role involves overseeing the design of electrical systems such as power distribution, stand-by power generation, lighting, communication, fire alarm, and security systems. The Discipline Engineer will grow, develop, and supervise a group of Electrical Engineers in project design and development tasks. This includes creating drawings, performing calculations, developing cost estimates, writing specifications, responding to client questions and comments, reviewing contractor submittals, and providing clarifications during construction. The position also requires overseeing and reviewing electrical department design documents for completeness and ensuring adherence to industry and company standards. Collaboration with the QA/QC team for developing quality standards and procedures, and with the MEP management team for developing manpower and production plans are key aspects of this role. Additionally, the engineer will assist in business development initiatives, including client presentations, and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 10+ years’ design related experience with a consulting engineering firm designing - building power, lighting, communication and security systems.
  • A thorough understanding and knowledge of the architectural and engineering industry, including the Federal, State, and local laws and regulations that pertain to the industry.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience using Outlook and Microsoft Office (or similar software).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing a team of professionals desired.
  • LEED Accreditation and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with HVAC and plumbing systems a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of design in the design of electrical systems such as power distribution, stand-by power generation, lighting, communication, fire alarm and security systems.
  • Grow, develop and supervise a group of Electrical Engineers in project design and development tasks, including drawings, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications, respond to client questions and comments, review contractor submittals, and provide clarifications during construction.
  • Oversee/Review electrical department design documents for completion and department staff adhere to accepted industry and company standards.
  • Working with our QA/QC team, assist in the development of company quality standards and procedures.
  • Work with MEP management team to develop and implement electrical short- and long-range manpower and production plans to meet project objectives.
  • Assist in cultivation of business development initiatives to pursue new projects including participation in client presentations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
