About The Position

E-Logic is seeking a highly skilled Disaster Recovery & Backup Specialist to ensure the resilience, integrity, and availability of critical municipal systems and data across all Borough departments, including public safety environments. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring rapid recovery from system failures, cyber incidents, or natural disasters. The specialist will play a key role in supporting business continuity planning, regulatory compliance, and operational readiness, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss across all IT services.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in backup, disaster recovery, or infrastructure engineering
  • Strong experience with enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Datto, Commvault, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of Windows Server environments and storage systems
  • Experience designing and executing disaster recovery plans
  • Understanding of cybersecurity risks (e.g., ransomware recovery strategies)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting government or public sector environments
  • Certifications such as: Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE)
  • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server / Azure
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage secure backup solutions for servers, endpoints, and cloud environments
  • Perform regular backup validation and restoration testing
  • Optimize backup schedules, retention policies, and storage utilization
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Plans (BCP)
  • Conduct annual DR/BCP testing exercises and document outcomes
  • Define Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)
  • Coordinate recovery efforts during outages or disaster events
  • Monitor backup jobs, storage systems, and recovery processes for failures or anomalies
  • Respond to backup failures, data corruption, and recovery incidents
  • Support cybersecurity incident response efforts related to ransomware or data loss scenarios
  • Support backup integration with: Virtual environments (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) Windows Server environments Network Attached Storage (NAS) and cloud platforms
  • Collaborate with Systems and Network teams to ensure DR readiness across all infrastructure
  • Ensure compliance with CJIS and municipal IT security requirements
  • Maintain detailed documentation of backup configurations, recovery procedures, and DR plans
  • Support audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews
  • Work with IT leadership to align DR strategy with organizational goals
  • Train technical staff and end users on recovery procedures and continuity protocols
  • Provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements to enhance resilience
