The Director of Transplant Outreach develops and maintains community-based infrastructures and relationships that support culturally competent transplant awareness, identify clinical factors that may merit transplant evaluation, and facilitate referrals from external physicians. The Director advises the MCA Transplant Center and MCA leaders on outreach strategies and participates in implementation as directed. The role develops community education about end-stage renal, liver, and heart disease; increases external referrals through local visits to physicians’ offices, dialysis centers, and other healthcare providers; and expands access to MCA patient care services. The Director develops and supports collaborative education projects for patients, nurses, and physicians on the transplant process, designs and implements a strategic outreach plan for each organ program, and reports metrics monthly to the Transplant Center Director and Operations Administrator. The Director also maintains an inventory of relevant internal resources and draws on experience securing extramural support and relationships with local, state, and federal agency representatives to augment resources and coordinate outreach infrastructure. The role requires knowledge of life-span growth and development and the ability to understand and respect cultural differences. The position requires living within 100 miles of campus or being willing to relocate.
