About The Position

This Director, Specialty Compliance and Ethics - Global Marketplace and Ecommerce implements AI, machine learning, and other data science models to enhance and optimize our ecommerce compliance controls. The person in this role will partner with various teams including Compliance, Legal, Product and Tech, as well as our Data Science teams. The Director leads the development and execution of compliance strategies to ensure adherence to evolving regulatory requirements. This person focuses on using the most current tech capabilities to implement item-specific policy at scale. Leveraging AI, we aim to make compliance assessment with the speed of our Marketplace business. The Director oversees monitoring and reporting on compliance performance, fosters a culture of integrity, and drives continuous improvement through innovative solutions.

Requirements

Masters degree and/or 8+ years of related work experience in Compliance, Trust & Safety, risk management, operations, or Legal
AI and data analysis experience
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
High degree of initiative and deadline-driven productivity
Experience working with partners and teammates across different time zones and cultures
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field and 5 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area OR 7 years’ experience in compliance, ethics, legal, project management, or related area.
3 years’ supervisory experience.
4 years’ experience using intermediate functionality of Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

Experience with eCommerce, retail, compliance/legal ops, risk management, or content review/moderation
Experience with AI or machine learning
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with people at a variety of levels
Resourceful and intellectually curious mentality, not afraid to dig into issues or projects
Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow and Salesforce
Familiar and comfortable working in gray areas or dealing with offensive content

Responsibilities

Think strategically about control and model design
Conduct item validation and model training to ensure accurate model recall and precision
Draft guidelines to ensure clarity in policy implementation
Train additional item review agents on policy
Develop success metrics to track control performance
Monitor site and ensure item compliance with established polices, rules, and guidelines
Triage items and listings, this includes escalating items or rule issues, taking action on products, or providing feedback to improve or enhance rules, tools or processes
Review and investigate item reports for gaps, trends or developing risks, this may include analysis of internal item data reports or cases, reviewing other sites or news for item trends, or working on annotations with machine learning models
Support in process documentation, report generation, or coordinating implementation of new item risk initiatives, processes or workflows
