The role owns the department’s strategy, playbook, talent, results, growth, and key client relationships.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of digital PR experience, including at least 3 years in an agency setting.
  • At least 2 years of people-management experience, including managing managers or leading a multi-account team.
  • A portfolio of data-driven and reactive campaigns that earned coverage in top-tier and high-authority outlets.
  • Deep understanding of how digital PR drives GEO and brand visibility.
  • Proven ability to own senior client relationships, lead difficult conversations, grow accounts, and win new business.
  • Strong operational skills in scoping, resourcing, capacity planning, and managing competing priorities.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, editorial judgment, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SaaS, fintech, and/or consumer brands.
  • Established relationships with journalists and editors in national, business, or trade media.
  • Experience owning a department or practice P&L.
  • Familiarity with how earned media influences AI search and LLM visibility.
  • Experience building PR processes, playbooks, or new service offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision, goals, and roadmap for Siege’s Digital PR practice; own department revenue, profitability, and headcount planning; and represent Digital PR to the leadership team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Digital PR Managers and, through them, the Data Journalists and PR Specialists on their accounts.
  • Hire team members, set expectations, conduct regular one-on-ones and performance reviews, and create growth paths for individual contributors to become managers.
  • Own campaign standards across the portfolio by reviewing and pressure-testing campaign roadmaps and ideas before client presentation.
  • Ensure campaigns are built on newsworthy narratives and use an appropriate mix of proprietary data, reactive PR, linkable assets, and other promotion levers.
  • Serve as senior Digital PR partner and escalation point for key accounts; join strategic client conversations, lead difficult discussions, and identify opportunities to expand engagements.
  • Lead Digital PR on sales calls, shape strategies and proposals for prospects, and partner with sales to grow the client base.
  • Build and maintain relationships with journalists and editors at high-authority outlets, and coach the team on angles, targeting, and follow-up.
  • Own department-level performance, including media mentions, mentions per campaign, backlinks, on-time launches, client satisfaction, retention, and profitability.
  • Identify underperforming accounts and work with managers on recovery plans.
  • Build and refine the Digital PR playbook, processes, templates, and new-client deliverables.
  • Manage capacity planning, staffing, and utilization across accounts.
  • Collaborate with affiliate, analytics, content strategy, and GEO teams to integrate Digital PR into broader client strategies, including earned coverage’s support for organic and AI search visibility.

Benefits

  • 50% 401(k) match up to 6% of salary.
  • Unlimited PTO and encouraged mental health days.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Remote work equipment and a home office stipend.
  • Team-wide health challenges and virtual events.
