About The Position

This is a full-time Academic Administrator position at Fresno City College. The Director of Outreach, Onboarding, and Student Engagement is responsible for leading and directing departmental staff involved in student outreach and matriculation programs. The role requires a deep understanding of community college operations, student support services, and a commitment to equity-minded practices, particularly for historically minoritized student groups. The Director will develop and implement strategies to enhance student recruitment, retention, and overall engagement, while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • Must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.
  • A master’s degree from an accredited college or university OR possession of a valid California Community College Supervisory Credential.
  • Six years of student support services or experience, at least two of which were with outreach and matriculation services; Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • A valid California driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District’s vehicle insurance program.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct activities of assigned departmental staff involved in student outreach and matriculation programs.
  • Define issues, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives and develop sound, independent conclusions and recommendations in accordance with laws, regulations, rules and policies.
  • Analyze and make sound recommendations on complex student recruitment, retention and assistance issues.
  • Work collaboratively with other District directors and managers and the community and provide expert advice and counsel to develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Organize, set priorities and exercise expert, independent judgment within areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and maintain an inclusive work environment that fosters diversity, respect and engagement.
  • Develop and implement appropriate procedures and controls.
  • Prepare clear, concise and comprehensive correspondence, reports, studies and other written materials.
  • Effectively engage and support historically minoritized groups by addressing issues of equity and improving culturally responsive service-oriented practices.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understand, interpret, explain and apply applicable laws, codes and ordinances.
  • Represent the District effectively in dealings with students, community groups and the public.
  • Make presentations and present proposals and recommendations clearly, logically and persuasively to diverse audiences.
  • Operate a computer and use standard business software.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all those encountered in the course of work.
