About The Position

Fresno City College is seeking a Director, Police Academy (Full-Time, Academic Administrator) at the First Responders Campus. This role involves leading and administering law enforcement and correctional training programs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and fostering an equitable and inclusive learning environment. The Director will oversee curriculum development, instructional activities, fiscal management, and strategic partnerships with public safety agencies and community organizations.

Requirements

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in criminology, public safety administration, or a relevant field of study.
Five years of professional law enforcement experience, with at least two years at a public safety management level.
Sworn, full-time, first-level supervisory experience.
POST IDI Master Instructor certification.
Valid California driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.

Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity.
Recent experience working with African American, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students.
Understanding of how historical patterns of exclusions of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
Willingness to examine and remediate one’s relational practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students.
Commitment to participatory governance, consensus building, and team approach to management.

Responsibilities

Develop and administer law enforcement and correctional training programs.
Ensure compliance with POST, STC, ICI, and other relevant regulations.
Oversee curriculum development, methods of instruction, and use of educational technologies.
Manage fiscal responsibilities, including budgeting, auditing, and contracting.
Build and maintain partnerships with law enforcement agencies, school districts, and community groups.
Promote equity-minded practices and foster an inclusive work environment.
Supervise and direct instructional and training activities.
Monitor and ensure the physical safety of students.
Prepare reports, studies, and other written materials.
Represent the District/college effectively in various dealings.
