Director, Organic Growth

TalkiatryNew York, NY

About The Position

Talkiatry is seeking a highly execution-oriented Director of Organic Growth to build and scale our organic acquisition engine across SEO, AI-driven search, and emerging discovery platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for driving meaningful patient acquisition by translating high-impact organic opportunities into a clear roadmap and consistently shipping work that delivers measurable results. This is a hands-on leadership role (especially in the first 90 days), requiring both strategic thinking and the ability to turn ideas into live, high-quality execution. You will lead our “Search Everywhere” strategy across platforms including Google, AI search (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini), video search, social platforms, and provider directors (e.g. Psychology Today, WebMD), while building the systems and team needed to scale output over time. Reporting to the VP of Growth Marketing, you will own organic growth outcomes end-to-end, from identifying opportunities to ensuring execution is delivered on time and drives business impact. Success in this role requires not just strong ideas, but the ability to operationalize them into detailed plans and ensure they ship with quality and speed. About Talkiatry: Talkiatry transforms psychiatry with accessible, human, and responsible care. We’re a national mental health practice co-founded by a patient and a triple-board-certified psychiatrist to solve the problems both groups face in accessing and providing the highest quality treatment. 60% of adults in the U.S. with a diagnosable mental illness go untreated every year because care is inaccessible, while 45% of clinicians are out of network with insurers because reimbursement rates are low and paperwork is unduly burdensome. With innovative technology and a human-centered philosophy, we provide patients with the care they need and allow psychiatrists to focus on why they got into medicine.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or relevant experience.
  • 7–10+ years of experience in growth marketing, with meaningful ownership of organic acquisition (SEO and/or adjacent channels)
  • Proven track record of translating strategy into execution by owning roadmaps, defining project plans, and consistently shipping work that drives measurable outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on builder, not just a strategist; comfortable diving into content, structure, and execution details when needed
  • Experience or strong point of view on AI-driven search and evolving discovery ecosystems, and how they impact organic growth strategy
  • Track record of hiring and building teams in parallel with delivering results, including identifying capability gaps, defining roles, and bringing on talent that measurably increases execution velocity and output quality
  • Ability to prioritize ruthlessly based on impact, and maintain a clear backlog of opportunities across time horizons
  • Experience managing and scaling execution through agencies, freelancers, or cross-functional partners, with clear accountability for delivery
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to model impact, build forecasts, and evaluate performance against business goals
  • Comfortable working with data tools (e.g., SQL, BI tools) to diagnose performance and inform decisions
  • Expertise with tools like Google Search Console, Ahrefs, ScreamingFrog, Profound, SEOTesting and other core SEO and AI search tools
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate strategy, tradeoffs, and progress to cross-functional stakeholders and executives

Responsibilities

  • Own organic growth outcomes, driving patient acquisition through SEO, AI search, and adjacent discovery channels; not just traffic, but measurable business impact.
  • Translate strategy into execution by building a prioritized, continuously evolving roadmap with clearly defined initiatives, timelines, owners, and expected impact.
  • Directly accountable for organic growth including forecast, goal-setting, and in-period achievement. As needed, partner with BizOps and Finance to adjust forecasts based on new learnings and changes to the landscape.
  • Operate as a player-coach, especially in the first 90 days, personally driving initiatives forward (e.g content launches, page creation, optimization efforts) while building the systems for others to execute.
  • Ship high-impact work quickly, ensuring that meaningful content, pages, and optimizations are consistently launched, indexed, and iterated on.
  • Build and maintain a deep backlog of opportunities across quick wins and long-term investments, with clear prioritization based on expected impact and time-to-value.
  • Develop clear POVs on “size of prize”, modeling the expected impact, time-to-impact, and leading indicators for key initiatives and using this to guide prioritization and resource allocation
  • Establish an execution system and operating cadence, including planning, sprints, and reporting, to ensure consistent velocity, accountability, and visibility into progress.
  • Build reporting and forecasting frameworks that tie organic efforts to patient acquisition and provide forward-looking visibility into expected performance.
  • Expand beyond traditional SEO, building strategies across AI-driven search (e.g. LLMs), video, social, and third-party platforms where patients discover and evaluate care options.
  • Own vendor and team build strategy, proactively identifying capability gaps and translating the roadmap into a hiring and resourcing plan. You will simultaneously drive execution and build the team, hiring and onboarding in-house talent while leveraging agencies and contractors to ensure no loss in execution velocity.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Creative, Web Development, Paid, and Clinical teams to improve conversion, expand distribution, and ensure high-quality user experiences.
