Director of Technology & Business Systems

Premise One LLC•Chandler, AZ

About The Position

The Director of Technology & Business Systems is the company's senior leader for internal technology, business systems, cybersecurity, automation, applied artificial intelligence, and technology solution enablement. The role is accountable for maintaining a secure and reliable technology environment while using systems, data, integrations, AI, and new technology offerings to make the business easier to operate, more scalable, and more technically capable in the market. The Director works with executive and department leaders to improve internal operations and helps evaluate, select, develop, train, and implement products and software services. The work spans technology strategy, vendor and budget oversight, system administration, solution architecture, pre-sales technical support, workflow design, product evaluation, training, and implementation. The role's objective is to make technology a durable operational and competitive advantage. Success involves strengthening systems and data, integrating platforms, applying automation and AI, improving processes, and establishing repeatable methods for selecting, validating, training, implementing, and supporting products and software services.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of progressive experience across information technology, business systems, platform administration, automation, systems integration, or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of leadership experience with responsibility for technology strategy, systems, vendors, teams, budgets, or major technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success improving business processes through technology, integration, automation, or system redesign.
  • Strong working knowledge of SaaS platforms, APIs, system integrations, data flows, permissions, reporting, and application administration.
  • Hands-on experience implementing workflow automation solutions and integrating business applications.
  • Working knowledge of generative AI, large language models, AI agents, retrieval and knowledge solutions, and AI governance concepts.
  • Strong understanding of endpoint and device management, identity and access management, networking, cloud-based systems, cybersecurity, backups, and IT support operations.
  • Strong project-management, change-management, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Ability to set direction and standards while remaining hands-on with systems, issue diagnosis, configuration, and implementation.
  • Business-first approach, with strong ownership, urgency, follow-through, and accountability.
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical leaders and users.
  • Ability to challenge inefficient legacy processes constructively and with data.
  • Ability to prioritize based on measurable organizational value rather than novelty.
  • Preference for scalable, maintainable solutions over one-off fixes and undocumented workarounds.
  • Strong documentation discipline and focus on reducing organizational dependency on individual knowledge.
  • Continuous learning and practical evaluation of emerging technology.
  • Comfort in a customer-facing technical role and communicating solution value, capabilities, limitations, and implementation requirements credibly.
  • Ability to balance innovation with standardization and introduce technology only when it can be supported, trained, documented, and scaled.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building internal AI/LLM applications or integrating commercial AI platforms.
  • Experience in a field-service, construction, systems-integration, project-based, or similar operational business environment.
  • Experience in sales engineering, solution architecture, technical pre-sales, product management, or customer-facing technology solution development.
  • Demonstrated ability to take a product or software service from technical assessment through pilot, standardization, training, and repeatable operational deployment.
  • Experience with physical security, low-voltage systems, systems integration, or related technology solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

  • Evaluate and implement platforms when existing tools cannot meet validated business requirements.
  • Partner with Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Service to turn customer and market requirements into technically sound, commercially practical, supportable solutions.
  • Own technical evaluation of new products and software services, including vendor review, technical due diligence, lab or pilot testing, integration validation, security considerations, and go/no-go recommendations.
