About The Position

HPE Networking is seeking a hands-on strategy leader to help shape the business’s direction and drive execution of its highest-priority initiatives. Reporting to the VP of Strategy for the networking business, the Director will help define strategic priorities, evaluate growth opportunities, inform investment decisions, lead high-impact initiatives, and drive execution against key business objectives. The role partners with senior leaders and combines rigorous problem solving, fact-based analysis, business judgment, and a focus on measurable outcomes. The Director leads strategic projects from problem definition through recommendations, decisions, execution, and impact; translates priorities into action plans; aligns stakeholders; and supports executive planning and decision-making. Success is measured by the quality of strategic decisions enabled, the impact of initiatives delivered, executive alignment, and business outcomes. The position is based in Houston, Texas, or San Jose, California, and is hybrid, requiring an average of two days per week in an HPE office.

Requirements

At least 8 years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, strategic planning, business transformation, or a related field.
Proven experience leading complex strategic initiatives from concept through execution.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and structured-thinking skills.
Strong executive communication and presentation capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and build alignment in large, matrixed organizations.
Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments while remaining focused on outcomes.

Nice To Haves

Experience at a leading strategy consulting firm, such as McKinsey & Company, Bain & Company, or Boston Consulting Group.
Experience in enterprise technology, networking, cloud, security, infrastructure, or a related industry.
MBA or equivalent advanced degree.
Track record of using AI to make strategy teams more productive and efficient.

Responsibilities

Assess growth opportunities, market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging industry shifts.
Develop fact-based recommendations for business, portfolio, investment, and partnership decisions.
Partner with senior leaders to define strategic priorities and the long-term direction of the business.
Address critical business questions facing HPE Networking.
Lead high-priority strategic projects from problem definition through recommendation, decision, execution, and impact.
Structure and solve complex business problems requiring cross-functional leadership and executive alignment.
Develop executive-level analysis, recommendations, and presentations for senior leadership.
Serve as an internal advisor on critical business challenges and opportunities.
Translate strategic priorities into clear action plans and measurable outcomes.
Align stakeholders and functions to accelerate execution.
Identify risks, barriers, and interdependencies affecting strategic objectives.
Maintain momentum and ensure initiatives deliver intended business results.
Serve as a trusted thought partner to the VP of Strategy and Business Development.
Support executive planning, strategic reviews, leadership offsites, and other high-priority business forums.
Frame complex business issues, challenge assumptions, and develop actionable recommendations.
Build alignment and support decision-making across the Networking leadership team.
Develop understanding of market trends, customer needs, competitive positioning, and industry developments.
Generate fact-based insights that shape strategic choices and improve business performance.
