About The Position

The Shore Educational Collaborative seeks a Director of Staff Development & Training to lead and strengthen professional learning and workforce development across all Shore programs, including educational and adult services. This position is responsible for developing and sustaining a highly skilled workforce through staff training, professional development, licensure support, mentoring, recruitment initiatives, onboarding systems, and career pathway programs. The Director will develop and coordinate training and professional learning opportunities for educators, paraprofessionals, clinicians, adult services staff, and other employees across the Collaborative. The role also supports educator licensure and MTEL preparation, mentoring and induction programs, paraprofessional-to-teacher pathways, recruitment efforts, and DESE licensure compliance. In partnership with member school districts, the Director will assist in planning and implementing professional development opportunities tailored to district needs. A key goal of this role is to expand Shore’s outreach and partnerships with districts by providing responsive, high-quality training and workforce development support across the region. Working collaboratively with program leadership and Human Resources, the Director will also support recruitment, onboarding, compliance, and ongoing professional growth for staff across Shore programs.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
  • Massachusetts educator licensure required; administrator licensure preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in teaching, preferably in special education.
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging professional development and adult learning opportunities required.
  • Experience managing events for 100+ people required.
  • Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Commitment to inclusive practices and supporting staff serving individuals with complex learning, behavioral, medical, and developmental needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in programs for adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts DESE licensure requirements and educator preparation pathways preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and deliver professional development and staff training aligned with Shore’s mission and organizational priorities.
  • Collaborate with educational and adult services leadership to assess training needs and develop responsive learning opportunities for staff across programs.
  • Facilitate workshops, onboarding sessions, learning communities, and required trainings for educators and staff.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, onboarding resources, online learning systems, and staff training records.
  • Coordinate annual mandatory trainings and ensure timely staff completion.
  • Partner with member school districts to support the planning and delivery of professional development initiatives and expand district outreach and collaboration efforts.
  • Coordinate external presenters, consultants, and training partnerships as appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and support regarding Massachusetts educator licensure, MTEL preparation, and licensure renewal requirements.
  • Coordinate mentoring and induction programs for new educators and staff pursuing licensure.
  • Support staff participating in Shore- or district-sponsored educator preparation programs.
  • Organize informational sessions, cohort supports, and professional growth opportunities for staff pursuing career advancement.
  • Maintain current knowledge of DESE licensure regulations and requirements.
  • Develop and support recruitment initiatives to attract qualified candidates for a variety of roles.
  • Build partnerships with colleges, universities, training programs, and community organizations.
  • Participate in recruitment events, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding processes.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors and Human Resources to address staffing needs and hard-to-fill positions.
  • Maintain accurate records of licensure, training, and credentialing requirements for staff across Shore programs.
  • Ensure compliance with DESE and other regulatory training and licensure requirements.
  • Prepare and monitor licensure waiver applications as needed.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and program leadership to ensure organizational compliance and staff readiness.
