About The Position

LifeSTEPS is seeking a highly motivated Director of Social Services/Program Coordinator to support low-income individuals and families through education, resources, supportive housing services, and community outreach in Oakland, California. The role helps residents—particularly older adults—thrive in place, build resilience, and maintain stable housing through client assistance, case management, and service coordination.

The position also supports children from low-income and underserved families through after-school education and resources. It helps provide a caring, safe place for children to receive homework assistance and academic enrichment and supports their development into resilient adults. The role is non-exempt and combines Director of Social Services duties for 28 hours per month with Program Coordinator duties for 10 hours per week.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree.
• Two years of experience in a similar environment providing social services to multi-families, seniors, and children.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Reliable, insured transportation.
