Together, these connected Marriott-branded hotels offer nearly 300 guest rooms, over 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space, multiple dining concepts, and distinctive guest experiences that showcase the best of Kansas City hospitality. We are seeking a Director of Sales & Marketing to lead commercial strategy for the Cascade Hotel Kansas City and Aloft Kansas City Country Club Plaza complex. This position plays a critical role in driving revenue growth, strengthening market presence, and leading sales and marketing initiatives across both properties. The ideal candidate is a strategic hospitality leader with a proven ability to develop teams, build client relationships, and execute revenue-generating strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hotel sales experience with progressive leadership responsibility.
  • Proven success driving revenue growth, account development, and sales strategy execution.
  • Strong knowledge of group, corporate, transient, and catering sales.
  • Experience leading and developing sales teams.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales performance, market trends, and business opportunities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and sales reporting systems.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required as a condition of employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary business information, client information, and hotel performance data.
  • Maintain professional appearance, leadership presence, and brand standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • Marriott brand experience.
  • Experience with CI/TY, Delphi, MARSHA, and related Marriott systems.
  • Experience leading sales efforts for full-service, lifestyle, luxury, or dual-branded hotels.
  • Experience managing sales strategy across multiple properties.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies for both Cascade Hotel Kansas City and Aloft Kansas City Country Club Plaza.
  • Lead proactive and reactive sales efforts across group, corporate, transient, social, and catering market segments.
  • Drive revenue growth initiatives designed to maximize occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and market share.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, clients, community partners, and industry organizations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Sales & Marketing team to achieve individual and property goals.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and retain high-performing sales associates.
  • Partner with Revenue Management to support forecasting, pricing strategy, demand analysis, and business optimization.
  • Analyze market trends, competitor performance, STR reporting, and sales activity to identify opportunities.
  • Manage sales pipelines, CRM activity, account production, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure accurate tracking and documentation of sales activities, opportunities, and client relationships.
  • Develop and execute marketing campaigns, promotions, partnerships, and brand awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure all marketing materials and communications align with Marriott brand standards.
  • Represent both hotels at client meetings, trade shows, networking events, and industry functions.
  • Partner with Operations, Rooms, Food & Beverage, and Events teams to ensure successful execution of group and event business.
  • Support business development opportunities and sales best practices across assigned portfolio properties as needed.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of local market conditions, competitor positioning, and demand generators.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
