About The Position

An established and rapidly growing industrial engineering and manufacturing company serving the food packaging industry is seeking a strategic Director of Sales & Marketing to lead the evolution of its commercial organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead Sales, Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Estimating while partnering closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Service teams to drive sustainable revenue growth across multiple business lines. This organization specializes in highly customized engineered solutions for customers in the food industry. Rather than selling standardized products, every customer engagement requires collaboration, technical expertise, and consultative problem-solving. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Marketing, or related discipline (MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive commercial leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading B2B sales organizations within the food industry, ideally involving engineered products, automation, material handling, packaging systems, custom equipment, or similar technical solutions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional commercial organizations that include Sales, Marketing, and technical pre-sales functions.
  • A proven track record of generating new business and expanding customer relationships within the food industry.
  • Strong understanding of consultative sales, applications engineering, estimating, pricing, and proposal development.
  • Proven experience building teams, improving commercial processes, and driving sustainable revenue growth.
  • Executive presence with exceptional communication, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including forecasting, pricing strategy, margin management, and pipeline development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the organization's overall commercial strategy.
  • Lead and mentor a growing team across Sales, Marketing, Applications Engineering, and Estimating.
  • Build a scalable, high-performing sales organization capable of supporting continued growth.
  • Identify, pursue, and develop new business opportunities across targeted markets.
  • Establish sales processes, forecasting, KPIs, and pipeline management.
  • Partner with marketing to strengthen lead generation and market awareness.
  • Oversee technical proposal development, estimating, and solution development.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Project Management, and Service to deliver customized customer solutions.
  • Build long-term customer relationships through a consultative, solution-based sales approach.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop future commercial leaders.
  • Continuously improve sales effectiveness, profitability, and customer experience.
  • Design the future commercial organization.
  • Evaluate and optimize existing team structures.
  • Build scalable systems and repeatable commercial processes.
  • Influence future compensation and incentive strategies.
  • Help integrate future acquisitions into a unified commercial organization.
  • Partner directly with executive leadership to shape the company's long-term growth strategy.
