About The Position

The Director of Recreation Events at Meadowcrest at Middletown, will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing recreational activities and events for our Independent Living residents.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one-year related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Two years supervisory/ management experience.
  • Must demonstrate an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Competent in organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and plan events.
  • Interact with guests, residents and staff in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Responds promptly to resident needs.
  • Supports organization's goals and values.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities.
  • Ability to delegate assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Activity Director Certificate from a state approved course or Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and conduct lifestyle programs that provide physical, intellectual, social, emotional and spiritual opportunities for the residents.
  • Plan appropriate programs for holidays and special events.
  • Advise residents regarding appropriate individual and group activities based on resident interests.
  • Prepare and organize a monthly calendar of events; submit the calendar to the Executive Director for final approval; post and distribute the calendar.
  • Develop and print the community newsletter.
  • Oversee wellness program.
  • Coordinate the community library.
  • Purchase and maintain equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare preliminary draft of Activities Operating Budget.
  • Organize and supervise volunteers.
  • Implement and facilitate a volunteer recognition program.
  • Address resident groups and other groups on subjects of common interest.
  • Maintain a database and prepare reports on resident assessments, participation and satisfaction.
  • Supervise Recreation and Events Coordinator and Activities Assistants.
  • Participate in community in-services.
  • Demonstrate competence in Federal, State and Local regulations; ensure compliance.
  • Develop, facilitate and analyze resident surveys to determine ongoing activities meet the residents’ interests.
  • Plan, coordinate and facilitate appropriate mixed group activities.
  • Develop and facilitate daily displays of activities on bulletin boards and/or kiosks in lobbies, elevators, dining rooms and other resident and team member communication centers.
  • Maintain a robust public relations program in support of the activities programming and community relations.
  • Communicate throughout the day with all drivers; give directions to each regarding the day’s schedule.
  • Ensure transportation vehicles are maintained in good working condition.
  • Review documentation from all drivers regarding daily vehicle inspections.
  • Assist with vehicle registration and license plate renewal process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
