About The Position

Temporal is seeking a Director of Product to lead its product-led growth (PLG) and self-service strategy. The role will define the vision and build systems that help developers and teams discover, activate, and scale with Temporal, with a focus on reducing friction in their experience. The Director will own how users onboard, realize value, and expand their usage of Temporal Cloud, while building and leading a team that shapes how developers experience and adopt the product.

The position will drive adoption and conversion across key funnel stages and support long-term engagement, expansion, and growth. As Temporal becomes a foundation for building AI, the role will also help emerging AI developers and teams rapidly experiment with and scale their use of Temporal.

The Director will partner across Marketing, Growth Engineering, Design, and go-to-market teams, establish outcome-focused measurement, and champion developer experience across onboarding, documentation, and product design. Requirements

• 10–15+ years of product management experience, including significant experience in senior or leadership roles owning self-service, product-led growth, or growth strategy in SaaS or developer-centric products.
• Demonstrated experience building and leading product management teams and developing strong product talent.
• Deep expertise in product funnels, activation metrics, experimentation frameworks, and lifecycle optimization at scale.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to set direction, align stakeholders, and influence across the organization without authority.
• Fluency with analytics tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, SQL, BigQuery, or similar.
• A builder's mindset, combining strategic vision with the operational discipline to execute.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with open-source products or developer ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the vision and strategy for Temporal's self-service experience, including sign-up, onboarding, and value realization in Temporal Cloud.
• Lead and scale product-led growth initiatives that drive activation, adoption, and expansion through in-product experiences, lifecycle touchpoints, and experimentation.
• Build, mentor, and develop a team of product managers focused on growth and self-service, and establish a high-performance product culture.
• Partner with Marketing, Growth Engineering, Design, and go-to-market teams to align PLG strategy with company-wide priorities and revenue goals.
• Establish and own a measurement framework for activation, retention, conversion, and expansion, and hold the team accountable for outcomes.
• Champion developer experience across the organization, ensuring onboarding, documentation, and product design provide a clear path to success.
• Use data, behavioral analytics, and user research to develop a prioritized roadmap and communicate it to executives and cross-functional partners.
• Help emerging AI developers and teams experiment with and scale their use of Temporal.
