Director of Growth

Manly Bands•Lindon, UT

About The Position

The Director of Growth owns the direct-to-consumer revenue engine, including paid acquisition, email and SMS, conversion, and the metrics connecting these functions. Reporting directly to the CEO and participating in leadership, this person is accountable for a contribution margin target as well as DTC revenue, CAC, MER, and LTV. The role balances strategy, planning, and team leadership with hands-on account management, with paid media as the largest single area of focus. The Director will lead a small internal team and agency and freelance partners, and determine which functions should be handled in-house versus externally. The role develops and executes growth plans for evergreen collections, new launches, and licensed partner releases; manages budgets and channel performance; and builds acquisition, retention, conversion, and reporting capabilities. Success includes auditing paid, email, and SMS accounts; establishing partner scopes and KPIs, creative testing, and a trusted growth dashboard; meeting contribution margin goals while efficiently growing new-customer revenue; and increasing returning-customer sales through owned channels.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of ecommerce or DTC growth marketing experience, including at least 3 years leading a function or a significant part of one.
  • A track record of owning and achieving contribution margin and revenue targets, rather than only spend targets.
  • Deep, hands-on paid media experience across Meta, Google, YouTube, and TikTok, including managing budgets at a comparable scale.
  • Hands-on email and SMS experience using Klaviyo or a similar platform, including flows, segmentation, deliverability, and revenue-generating campaign calendars.
  • Strong working knowledge of Shopify, GA4, Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, and dashboard or AI tools for reporting.
  • Working knowledge of attribution models, incrementality testing, and media mix modeling, and judgment about their limitations.
  • Experience hiring and managing agencies and freelancers and leading at least a small in-house team.
  • Strong financial skills, including building budgets, reading a P&L, and explaining contribution margin to the CEO.
  • Practical experience using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini for growth work, including analysis, copy, briefs, or automations, and the ability to check their output.
  • Ability to develop strategy and perform hands-on operational work.
  • Strong data orientation, organization, speed, and comfort making decisions with imperfect information.
  • Direct communication style and willingness to raise problems early with a plan.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in consumer products, fashion, jewelry, or lifestyle brands.
  • Experience co-marketing with licensing or brand partners and managing approval processes.
  • Influencer, creator, or UGC programs that produced measurable sales.
  • Affiliate, referral, or ambassador program experience.
  • Marketplace experience, such as Amazon or TikTok Shop, or experience with retail and wholesale channels.
  • Experience with high-consideration purchases where customers need confidence in fit, quality, and returns.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run the full-funnel growth plan for evergreen collections, new launches, and licensed partner drops.
  • Own contribution margin, DTC revenue, CAC, MER, and LTV targets, and report performance to the CEO and leadership team.
  • Set annual and monthly marketing budgets and reallocate spend based on performance.
  • Evaluate promotions, discounts, and gifts-with-purchase based on their contribution margin impact.
  • Own paid acquisition across Meta, Google, TikTok, affiliate, and emerging platforms, remaining hands-on in the accounts.
  • Create a repeatable process for testing creative, identifying effective ads, and scaling them.
  • Use AI tools to develop and iterate creative concepts, copy, and image and video drafts.
  • Own email and SMS as revenue channels, including core flows, segmentation, list growth, and campaign calendars.
  • Increase repeat purchases, gift purchases, and referrals through retention and owned-channel programs.
  • Run a conversion-rate optimization roadmap across Shopify landing pages, product pages, the ring builder, and checkout.
  • Conduct A/B tests and improve conversion rate, average order value, and the ring-size and fit experience.
  • Own growth dashboards and reporting using GA4, Shopify, Looker Studio, or similar tools.
  • Develop perspectives on attribution, incrementality, and media mix, and use AI to accelerate analysis and reporting while validating decision-driving numbers.
  • Hire, brief, and manage paid media, email, and affiliate agencies and freelancers using clear scopes, KPIs, and regular performance reviews.
  • Lead and develop the growth team and determine when roles or functions should move in-house.
  • Partner with Creative, Product, and licensing partners on creative, launch calendars, and co-marketing.
  • Coordinate promotions and launches with Manufacturing and Operations to align demand with production capacity and lead times.
