About The Position

Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers is seeking a Director of Outpatient Services to oversee the day-to-day functioning of an outpatient counseling office. This role involves working with staff who empower, uplift, and help individuals heal from mental illness, trauma, or addiction. The position requires ensuring that all team members understand and meet expected performance standards, with Lighthouse providing necessary tools and training for success. The Director performs advanced level work in providing psychological and counseling services under the supervision of the Regional Director of Wellness and Recovery.

Requirements

Completion of the curriculum requirements of a Master’s degree in a mental health or substance abuse related field from an accredited university.
Oklahoma State Licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Behavioral Practitioner, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Two years experience in a professional capacity involving the delivery of clinical service or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years experience in a supervisory role.
Considerable skill in working with people.
Considerable skill in effectively treating social, emotional, and addiction problems.
Considerable skill in expressing ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form.
Considerable skill in exercising good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
Expectation of core competencies in relation to individuals with co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, and collaborative care.
Knowledge of the principles and tests, the application of psychological theories with respect to group and individual behavior.
Knowledge of mental illness, its symptoms, treatment, and social implications in relation to consumers and their family.
Skill in diagnosing, assessing, and developing care plans.
Skill in evaluating a wide variety of clinical data.
Skill in carrying out courses of treatment.
Skill in counseling and guiding individuals and groups.
Skill in communicating clearly, both orally and in writing.
Knowledge of counseling and psychotherapy techniques for individuals, families, and groups.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work and/or psychology and of current social and economic problems.
Knowledge of personality development and structure.
Knowledge of counseling and rehabilitative approaches utilized with individuals diagnosed with Serious Mental Illness.
Ability to evaluate situations and adopt an effective course of action.
Ability to delegate responsibilities.
Ability to organize and present facts effectively.
Ability to establish working relationships within an integrated team to coordinate and facilitate care by assessing consumer needs, evaluating treatment options, creating care plans, coordinating care with internal and external providers, and monitoring progress.

Ability to exercise good clinical judgment.
Responsible for leadership in the administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of counseling services.
Ability to supervise the professional and support staff, budget administration, and formulation of unit policies and procedures.

Must meet “satisfactory” expectations at any scheduled job performance evaluation, coaching and/or Performance Improvement Plans.

Nice To Haves

Specialized training and/or certification in mental health services or related field as may be required in order to provide adjunctive services, i.e. Suicide Assessment and Trauma.
Employee must be willing and able to perform all job related travel normally associated with this position.

Responsibilities

Oversee the day-to-day functioning of an outpatient counseling office.
Work with staff who empower, uplift, and help individuals heal from mental illness, trauma, or addiction.
Ensure all team members understand and meet expected performance standards.
Provide psychological and counseling services.
Interact and communicate with care teams, other clinics, CSU, URC, administration, and community partners to coordinate services.
Ensure fiscal responsibility of the clinic and agency by preparing the budget and supervising all expenditures.
Promote the professional development of staff by providing monthly supervision and developing Performance Improvement Plans.
Provide effective and appropriate supervision by planning, organizing, and implementing new training and educational opportunities.
Ensure consumer needs are addressed in emergency situations by coordinating and/or arranging for crisis intervention services.
Prepare for and provide input at Executive Management Team meetings and Outpatient Supervisors meetings.
Promote communication within the clinic by conducting regular staff meetings.
Consult with Performance Improvement Specialists and monitor clinical records for compliance.
Ensure office effectiveness by handling office correspondence and interviews.
Serve as a model for and communicate the function, mission, and core values of Lighthouse.
In conjunction with Human Resources, provide for continuity of care by recruiting, selecting, training, and supervising clinic personnel.
Provide clinical supervision for non-credentialed staff operating under the supervisor’s license.
Actively participate in and contribute to staff planning, and evaluation of services and staff performance.
Complete monthly reports as assigned.
Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts, attending professional development seminars, and attending training/courses as required.
Contribute to the overall success of Lighthouse Behavioral Wellness Centers by performing all other duties as assigned.
Complete all agency documentation of services in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner.
Develop cooperative working relationships within the local community to enhance consumer access to resources.
Prepare for and actively participate in staff meetings, morning huddles, and Care Planning staffing.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or other management.
