About The Position

Max Roofing is hiring a Director of Operations to run its operating machine and allow the founder to focus on growth. The company serves the Phoenix metro with custom homes, repairs, and full replacements, and is growing its retail business. Its back office uses a proprietary AI agent platform for lead intake, customer experience, project coordination, and accounting, with the human team overseeing the system. The role owns six areas: AI agent oversight, sales operations, production and fulfillment, financial performance, marketing and lead flow, and people. It reports directly to the owner and carries real decision-making authority. The field superintendent, project coordinator, controller, and four AI agents report to this role. The mandate is to sustain and grow the current run rate, protect margins, and build out the retail sales process. During the first 30 days, the Director will learn the full pipeline, audit every AI agent, and deliver a written 90-day priority plan. By days 31–60, the role will close open infrastructure items, establish funnel reporting, and take ownership of Meta ad performance. By day 90, the Director will own all six areas. This is a remote role without a central office, but the employee must live in the Phoenix Valley and be available in person for job sites and team meetings. Compensation is a base salary of $90,000–$102,000 plus a 0.5% performance bonus tied to gross margin.

Requirements

Experience running operations in a lean small business, rather than a department within a large company.
Experience managing a team and making difficult performance-related decisions.
Experience owning or rebuilding a sales process.
Ability to read a profit and loss statement and protect margins without serving as the bookkeeper.
Comfort with technology and a systems-oriented mindset.
Ability to work well with a fast-moving, direct founder, bring decisions rather than menus of options, escalate sparingly, and investigate issues before asking for help.
Must live in the Phoenix Valley and be available in person for job sites and team meetings.
