About The Position
This position will manage a team responsible for overall delivery of multiple large construction projects across the U.S. Candidates should have hands-on experience building out dense (250+ node) metro fiber networks and/or long haul (>400 mile) fiber networks including management of complex federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- 10+ years’ experience in project management related to outside plant construction
- Highly developed written and verbal communications skills for detailed customer interactions and executive reporting
- Thorough understanding of utility engineering, permitting and construction process
- Strong planning skills and ability to develop detailed project schedules and manage work activities to ensure timely completion and mitigate project risks
- Development, management, and demonstrated command and control of large capital budgets
- Thorough understanding of fiber network cost structure and ability to identify and achieve costs savings
- Understanding of fiber engineering and documentation standards and principles
- Strong background in Google Suite (Sheets, etc.), Google Maps, Google Earth, Smartsheet

- BS degree preferred
- GIS mapping and data manipulation experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Recruiting, oversight and management of project managers, construction managers, inspectors and project coordinators. Four to six direct reports expected.
- Identification, bid management & contract negotiation with environmental, OSP engineering, and OSP construction vendors.
- Project management of multiple projects including establishing project schedules, maintaining project budgets, running regular project calls.
- Oversight of environmental, OSP engineering/construction firms, project reporting and rapid resolution of project roadblocks.
- Regular customer communications (written and oral), anticipating high stakes conversations and developing get-well plans when needed.
- Validation and approval of vendor invoices.
- Serve as an escalation point for both internal and external stakeholders
- Be the technical OSP expert on behalf of Vero with thorough understanding of construction methods, complex permitting and fiber splicing and testing.
- Support build cost estimates and delivery timelines for the sales team.
