About The Position

The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the ICU unit and oversees its nursing staff. The role serves as an administrative liaison between staff and other hospital departments, physicians, and administration. The Director supports safe, compassionate, timely, and efficient care, including providing direct patient care as necessary. The position also helps manage budgets, staffing and patient flow, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient experience.

Requirements

Texas RN license.
Previous charge or supervisory experience.
BLS and ACLS.
Refer to Nursing Policy IV-F.3.

Nice To Haves

Previous management experience preferred.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee staff in carrying out their duties safely, promptly, compassionately, and efficiently, including providing direct patient care as necessary.
Assist administrators with annual budget preparation for approval and periodically monitor and review the operating budget to analyze trends.
Conduct timely evaluations, including coaching, counseling, and initiating corrective actions.
Work with physicians to evaluate and enhance the patient experience.
Continuously evaluate patient flow, staffing patterns, and other operations to identify opportunities to improve patient care and cost effectiveness.
Communicate directly with physicians and other management members to resolve conflicts and other issues effectively.
Ensure staff follow policies and procedures, including requirements of regulatory agencies and accrediting bodies.
Communicate patient-care and outcome information to healthcare team members.
Assist in developing plans for continuous improvement and patient care.
Promote and provide a safe environment for staff and patients.
Work with staff to maintain high-quality patient care and make appropriate changes as needed.
Work toward meeting departmental quality metrics.
Perform other duties as assigned.
