About The Position

The Director of Nursing Services role is a pivotal leadership role within our long-term care facility. As a key member of the management team, the Director of Nursing Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all nursing-related activities to ensure the highest standard of patient care and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in long-term care nursing and leadership, with a passion for delivering exceptional healthcare services. You will provide continuing care through these responsibilities.

Requirements

• Current, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State, with a minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Proven leadership experience in long-term care or a similar healthcare setting.
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to long-term care nursing services.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in electronic health records and healthcare management systems.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
• Certification in Gerontological Nursing or Nursing Administration preferred.
• Previous experience in a Director of Nursing role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strong leadership to the nursing staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Develop, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff, including registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants.
• Collaborate with other department heads to ensure seamless and efficient facility operations.
• Build a culture of belonging through effective use of the company’s recognition and reward strategies.
• Drive retention and team performance by modeling and implementing the company’s people strategies.
• Ensure that all nursing practices adhere to state and federal regulations, as well as the facility's policies and procedures.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans to ensure comprehensive and individualized care for all residents.
• Oversee medication administration and documentation to maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Oversee infection prevention control program. In the absence of a designated Infection Preventionist (i.e. Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Preventionist Coordinator), serve as the Rehabilitation & Care Center’s designated Infection Preventionist Coordinator (IPC).
• Lead efforts to improve the quality of care by monitoring and assessing clinical outcomes and implementing necessary changes.
• Conduct regular audits, assessments, and inspections to maintain the highest standards of care and safety.
• Assist in developing and managing the nursing department budget.
• Monitor and control departmental expenses while ensuring adequate staffing levels and resource allocation.
• Develop and implement ongoing training and education programs for nursing staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
• Promote open communication with residents and their families, addressing their concerns and ensuring their needs are met.
• Participate in resident care conferences and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.
