About The Position

Elderwood at Waverly is seeking a collaborative and clinically grounded Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON – RN) to help lead nursing practice, employee development, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and resident care. This role offers meaningful facility-level responsibility, working closely with the Director of Nursing, Administrator, a Regional Nurse Consultant, and Elderwood’s organization-wide clinical leadership. It provides visible leadership experience, executive support, and structured development opportunities for RN leaders aspiring to a future Director of Nursing position. The ADON role is supported by a Regional Nurse Consultant and Elderwood’s Chief Nursing Officer, allowing influence over local care while benefiting from the resources of a larger healthcare organization. Pennsylvania RNs are encouraged to apply, with guidance provided for New York licensure by endorsement. Elderwood is committed to developing future clinical leaders, with opportunities for advanced development experiences, including Widener University’s Director of Nursing Leadership Academy for high-performing ADONs.

Requirements

Must possess, as a minimum, a degree in nursing from an accredited school.
Must possess a current, unencunmbered, active license to practice as an RN in the state.
Working knowledge of the needs of geriatric complex care requiring long term care, the principles of management, supervision, organizational behavior and structure, and communication systems.
A physical examination and/or evidence from a physician indicating free of communicable disease to be available upon employment.
Must be in good physical and mental health.
Ability to work independently or part of a group.
Effectively communicate with others.
If expected to drive company vehicle- must have valid driver's license with good driving record and be at least 21 years of age.
Must have, as a minimum, 2 years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other related health care facility.
This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors.
The employee must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.

Nice To Haves

Baccalaureate degree preferred.
Previous long-term care experience is desirable.
Computer knowledge preferred.
