ElderwoodWaverly, NY
$120,000Onsite

About The Position

Elderwood at Waverly is seeking a collaborative and clinically grounded Assistant Director of Nursing to help lead nursing practice, employee development, quality improvement, regulatory readiness, and resident care. This is an opportunity for an experienced RN leader to take on meaningful facility-level responsibility while working closely with the Director of Nursing, Administrator, an assigned Regional Nurse Consultant, and Elderwood’s organization-wide clinical leadership. For an RN ready to grow toward a future Director of Nursing position, the ADON role offers visible leadership experience, executive support, and access to structured development opportunities. At Elderwood, facility nursing leaders are accountable for clinical performance, but they are not expected to lead in isolation. The ADON receives support from the facility Director of Nursing and Administrator, an assigned Regional Nurse Consultant who provides consistent clinical and operational guidance, Elderwood’s Chief Nursing Officer and organization-wide clinical leadership, and a broader network of nursing leaders who share resources, experience, and best practices. This structure allows you to influence care locally while benefiting from the perspective and resources of a larger healthcare organization. Elderwood is committed to identifying and developing future clinical leaders. ADONs who demonstrate strong performance, leadership potential, and an interest in future Director of Nursing opportunities may be considered for advanced development experiences, including Widener University’s Director of Nursing Leadership Academy. The 12-week academy is designed for current and aspiring Directors of Nursing and combines online learning, leadership coaching, faculty mentorship, and applied workshops. Its curriculum addresses practical nursing-leadership responsibilities, including communication, decision-making, team development, employee retention, financial fundamentals, strategic planning, and change management.
