The opportunity GWC seeks a Director of Marketing and Communications to develop communications and marketing strategies across multiple audiences. This role tailors outreach initiatives to build new relationships and strategically deepen engagement with those already involved with GWC. Reporting to the Sr Director of External Relationships, this role creates a segmented, data‑informed marketing strategy along with supporting systems that elevate GWC’s brand and advance fundraising and program goals across diverse audiences. The Director will build the strategy, systems, and measurements for marketing that are required for GWC to scale. The Director will translate programmatic activities, stories, and narratives into engaging multi‑channel campaigns. This role will produce high‑impact collateral for both digital and print use, ensure brand consistency across the organization, and turn the marketing and communication strategy into action. An ideal candidate brings expertise in copywriting, marketing strategy and techniques, and building out organization-wide communications strategy. The candidate will also bring proficiency in visual storytelling (short‑form video, photography, graphics), design tools (e.g., Canva, Illustrator, etc.), marketing automation/email platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), donor form optimizations, Google Ads/Grants, social ads, Asana, and Salesforce. GWC was founded on Biblical principles, and the work environment is fast-paced, dynamic, and flexible. Candidates should be comfortable working in a start-up, faith-based environment, balancing the need for flexibility, structure, and procedure. Some domestic travel is required, and international travel may be necessary, along with occasional evening and weekend work to build relationships and engage the organization's key audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations
  • Demonstrated experience creating and executing communication & marketing strategy at organizations; non-profit experience a plus
  • Global organization experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in design and digital tools including Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office Suite, email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact), video editing software, and major social media platforms
  • High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
  • Experience with Salesforce or willingness to learn CRM systems for data-driven marketing and reporting
  • Experience with project management tools like Asana for team collaboration and reporting
  • Exceptional time and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to connect and build trusting relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex programmatic information into clear, compelling narratives
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship required
  • Reliable home internet bandwidth to support video conferencing and job-related responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Model the GWC’s core values of love, excellence, and integrity to colleagues, partners, prospects, vendors, and the public
  • Represent GWC’s brand to external audiences, including potential funders, partners, subject matter experts, training partners, and clients
  • Develop and lead annual marketing and communications strategy across key audiences (donors, partners, funders, and broader visibility)
  • Develop and manage the editorial calendar that aligns program and fundraising communications
  • Develop strategies to engage and target various audiences, including donors, programmatic partners, peer organizations, subject matter experts, and course alumni
  • Support the organization-wide relationship management initiatives
  • Manage the marketing and communications budget and external vendors to ensure efficient, high-impact execution
  • Provide leadership, direction, and prioritization to staff, contractors, or consultants supporting marketing and communications
  • Surface gaps and needs, making recommendations to leadership to meet the needs and support the growth and sustainability of the annual marketing and communications plan.
  • Support GWC’S fundraising goals through donor communications, stewardship materials, proposal support, and recurring donor engagement initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Advancement & Engagement (A&E) team on content creation, design, and distribution of campaigns within the annual giving plan, donor stewardship, and other fundraising communications
  • Support new donor acquisition activities through optimization of ad campaigns, email look-alike targeting, and tailored email journeys
  • Develop marketing collateral, including slide decks, handouts, graphics, and donor recognition materials that reflect GWC’s brand and messaging
  • Ensure all published materials and external communications meet the high-quality standards and align with brand guidelines
  • In collaboration with the entire GWC team, write and develop content to support the monthly newsletter, donor email campaigns, online and print materials, annual and impact reports, and case studies
  • Manage public relations planning and amplification to support brand relevance and fundraising
  • Develop and implement digital marketing initiatives, including social media strategy, Google Ad grants, paid media campaigns, and analytics
  • Manage social media platforms including Linked In, Facebook, and Instagram.
  • Adapt programmatic narratives and materials into compelling written, photographic, and short-form video content tailored to each channel
  • Write and implement website content updates and manage website vendor relationships
  • Establish clear performance measurement system that includes including KPIs and related dashboards
  • Track communications performance in Salesforce and other analytics tools; report on impact and use data insights to inform future strategies
  • Lead audience segmentation for email lists and optimize engagement through targeted campaigns
