About The Position

The Director of IT Infrastructure is a senior, hands-on technical leader responsible for the strategy, architecture, reliability, security, and day-to-day operation of Cambro’s global IT infrastructure. This role leads the infrastructure team and is accountable for enterprise networking, data centers, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud and hybrid infrastructure, telecommunications, cybersecurity infrastructure, IoT/OT connectivity, disaster recovery, business continuity, and infrastructure support for manufacturing, warehouse, office, and remote operations. The position provides leadership for infrastructure and network operations, including enterprise networking, data centers, servers, storage, virtualization, cloud and hybrid environments, telecommunications, cybersecurity infrastructure, endpoint and mobile device infrastructure, IoT/OT connectivity, disaster recovery, business continuity, and infrastructure support services. The Director is responsible for leading and developing technical teams, managing technology vendors, ensuring infrastructure availability and security, and aligning technology solutions with business objectives. This role requires advanced technical expertise with Level 3 engineering capabilities and the ability to provide hands-on leadership during complex technical initiatives, major incidents, cybersecurity events, infrastructure design, and advanced troubleshooting. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader who effectively partners with business stakeholders while driving operational excellence, infrastructure modernization, and continuous improvement across the enterprise.

Requirements

Minimum 10 years of progressive IT infrastructure experience, including at least 5 years leading infrastructure, network, systems, or technical operations teams.
Minimum Level 3 engineering capability in enterprise infrastructure, with the ability to independently diagnose, design, and resolve complex network, server, security, telecom, and infrastructure issues.
Exceptional knowledge of enterprise networking, including LAN, WAN, wireless, routing, switching, firewalls, VPN, network segmentation, remote access, monitoring, high availability, and carrier management.
Hands-on experience with Cisco or comparable enterprise networking platforms, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and network troubleshooting.
Strong experience with telecommunications and voice systems, including VoIP, SIP, call routing, carrier services, system administration, and vendor management. Avaya experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of infrastructure security, including identity and access controls, firewall policies, vulnerability remediation, patching, logging, monitoring, endpoint protection, backup security, and secure vendor access.
Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, virtualization, backup and recovery, storage, mobile devices, and endpoint infrastructure.
Experience with VMware, Veeam, disaster recovery tools, server infrastructure, and business continuity planning.
Experience supporting multi-site operations, preferably including manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or global business environments.
Ability to lead infrastructure projects, manage vendors, develop technical standards, document systems, and communicate clearly with both technical teams and business leaders.
Strong leadership skills, including coaching, accountability, performance management, delegation, prioritization, and cross-functional communication.
Success in leveraging IT service management practices, such as ITIL, and practical continuous improvement methods to improve service quality, responsiveness, efficiency, and governance.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience leading IT infrastructure in a global or multi-location manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environment.
Experience with IoT/OT connectivity, plant-floor network requirements, facility systems, cameras, access control, intrusion detection, and secure third-party vendor access.
Experience with network modernization, circuit management, bandwidth planning, carrier redundancy, wireless upgrades, and data center or colocation environments.
Experience in the most current technologies and products used in the industry, including cloud, hybrid infrastructure, monitoring, endpoint management, and cybersecurity infrastructure tools.
Experience working with large, cross-functional teams and partnering effectively with senior-level management and key stakeholders across the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders and business concepts to the infrastructure workforce.
Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, CISSP, CISM, ITIL, Microsoft, VMware, PMP, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated ability to build a high-performing infrastructure team and develop engineers from Level 1 and Level 2 toward Level 3 capability.

Responsibilities

Own the design, reliability, performance, and security of Cambro’s global network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, wireless, routing, switching, firewall, VPN, internet circuits, segmentation, monitoring, and redundancy.
Coordinate and plan the company’s information technology architecture, including daily operation of voice and data networks, to ensure systems are current, operational, secure, and functional across all locations.
Manage resource availability, capacity, scalability, lifecycle planning, and resiliency for hardware, software, network, communication, server, storage, and cloud or hybrid infrastructure systems.
Oversee and, when necessary, directly support the design, implementation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of critical infrastructure equipment, software, firmware, and services.
Ensure IT systems are continuously available to employees and support production, warehouse, project, and administrative work functions.
Lead the strategy and support of enterprise telecommunications systems, including VoIP, SIP trunks, call routing, phone system administration, carrier services, system redundancy, and related vendor relationships.
Provide technical leadership for IoT, OT, and facility-connected systems, including manufacturing connectivity, cameras, access control, intrusion detection, vendor access zones, and other network-connected operational systems.
Partner with Information Security to ensure infrastructure supports cybersecurity requirements, including patch management, vulnerability remediation, access control, network segmentation, logging, monitoring, endpoint protection, backup security, and secure vendor access.
Lead major incident response for infrastructure outages, cybersecurity infrastructure events, carrier issues, network failures, and system availability problems, including root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
Ensure effective backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and recovery testing for critical infrastructure platforms.
Establish infrastructure standards, documentation, network diagrams, lifecycle plans, configuration controls, and operating procedures for all critical infrastructure systems.
Coordinate activities of the IT Infrastructure team with IT Support Services and other business functions to ensure smooth functioning of PC, virtual desktop, server, network, telecom, and endpoint systems.
Develop, coach, and hold accountable infrastructure team members, including engineers, administrators, network staff, telecom resources, and support personnel.
Manage infrastructure budgets, service contracts, vendor relationships, renewals, licensing, circuits, and technology lifecycle planning.
Create and report infrastructure performance metrics, including uptime, incident resolution, project delivery, service levels, backup success, security remediation, and network stability.
Work with management to prioritize business and information technology needs and translate business requirements into practical infrastructure solutions.
Pursue and define process improvement, automation, standardization, documentation, and technology modernization opportunities.
Maintain reliable and consistent attendance, including being punctual, and dependable in order to meet the needs of the department and the organization.

Provide leadership coverage and fulfill the responsibilities of direct reports as necessary to ensure uninterrupted operations and meet business requirements.
Participate in and provide leadership during after-hours escalations, emergency incident response, scheduled maintenance windows, infrastructure implementations, and system cutovers to ensure business continuity and minimize operational disruption.
Must be able to work overtime as needed, remain flexible and open to possible schedule changes in order to meet business needs.
