About The Position

We are looking for a Director of Global Rewards based in Montreal to support the design and execution of Rio Tinto Remuneration policies and programs. The strategies and systems adopted at Rio Tinto to remunerate employees at all levels is critical in being able to attract, retain and mobilize high calibre individuals. Reporting to the Senior Manager - Remuneration Strategy & Solutions, and working in challenging and exciting environment, you will:

Requirements

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Extensive experience in remuneration, performance related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering projects for senior stakeholders, clients, business leaders, other parts of the HR structure
  • A pragmatic thinker with a “one global team” mindset who can create practical solutions tailored for a global business
  • Extensive knowledge of contemporary HR principles, philosophies, and relevant laws/regulations governing remuneration (job analysis, market pricing, market analysis, fixed and variable compensation plan design)
  • HRIS experience, including experience with web-enabled performance management tools and/or platforms
  • Ability to coach, influence and mentor a small team of remuneration and reward experts

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of specialists who support and manage global remuneration programs.
  • Act as a day-to-day project lead, ensuring the annual cycle of activities progresses against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards.
  • Partner with the appropriate human resource area to deliver strategically aligned reward solutions and systems to the business.
  • Ensure policies, practices and programmes support the business while aligning with Rio Tinto global and regional practices and processes.
  • Provide advice on the application of Rio Tinto reward policy and processes to the business.
  • Lead market research, financial analysis and make recommendations.
  • Implement training and communication programs for managers and other employees.
  • Lead all internal activities in relation to compliance with applicable remuneration related legislations.
  • Liaise and partner with other regional remuneration teams to ensure best practices and cross-collaboration.
  • Lead the regulatory reporting, ensuring compliance with evolving local legislation and delivering complex, stakeholder led projects on time for the region.
