About The Position

The Director of EOL Operations provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s End-of-Life (EOL) switchgear modernization, retrofit, replacement, and lifecycle services business. This role is responsible for the safe, profitable, and efficient execution of complex low- and medium-voltage electrical infrastructure projects, with exposure to high-voltage applications, while driving operational excellence, customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and team development. The Director works cross-functionally with sales, engineering, supply chain, field services, and executive leadership to develop scalable processes, optimize resources, manage risk, and ensure successful project delivery across a growing portfolio of modernization programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business, or a related discipline is preferred. Equivalent electrical construction, field, technical, and leadership experience will be considered in place of a formal degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical construction, electrical power systems, switchgear services, project management, field operations, or operations leadership.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience managing teams, projects, programs, or service organizations.
  • Strong practical knowledge of low- and medium-voltage switchgear systems, power distribution equipment, protection systems, and modernization practices; exposure to high-voltage systems is beneficial.
  • Demonstrated success managing large electrical portfolios, project teams, and construction operations across complex infrastructure projects, with hands-on experience in electrical construction or field execution.
  • Experience managing budgets, financial performance, forecasting, risk management, customer relationships, contractor coordination, outage planning, commissioning, quality, safety, and schedule performance.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • PMP Certification or equivalent project management credential is optional.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is optional and considered a plus.
  • Experience with switchgear modernization, relay upgrades, breaker replacements, arc-flash mitigation, and commissioning programs.
  • Knowledge of utility, industrial, commercial, manufacturing, data center, or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Experience implementing Lean, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision, operational plans, and growth objectives for EOL Operations.
  • Lead a portfolio of switchgear modernization, retrofit, replacement, and lifecycle extension projects.
  • Establish performance metrics, governance processes, and operational standards to drive consistent execution.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with commercial teams to support business growth, customer retention, and market expansion.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, procurement, and execution strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams and field operations on equipment modernization, protection systems, compatibility assessments, construction execution, and commissioning activities.
  • Support successful completion of design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), startup, and commissioning efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, regulations, and company procedures.
  • Serve as the executive point of contact for key customers and strategic projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, contractors, utilities, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead project reviews, operational updates, and executive-level customer meetings.
  • Manage project risks, scope changes, contract obligations, and customer expectations.
  • Own operational performance and financial results for the EOL business segment.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project profitability, revenue, margins, utilization, and cost performance.
  • Identify operational, technical, financial, and safety risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Drive accountability for achieving business objectives and operational targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, engineers, field service leaders, and operational personnel.
  • Recruit, retain, and build high-performing teams.
  • Establish performance expectations, succession planning, and professional development programs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion a world-class safety culture across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NEC, IEEE, company policies, and customer requirements.
  • Promote best practices for outage planning, energized work environments, commissioning, and field execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety performance, quality, and operational excellence.
