About The Position

The University of Lynchburg, a private, regional university, is seeking applicants for a full-time Director of Digital Media in the Athletics Department. This position reports to, is supervised by, and evaluated by the Director of Athletics. The role involves leadership of the department’s digital efforts, including game streaming, new media storytelling, social media, and exploring new digital platforms to enhance the student-athlete experience. The Director will work in conjunction with the Director of Athletic Communications to promote Lynchburg’s 24 intercollegiate athletics programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree
  • Successful digital media creation and implementation
  • Mastery of Adobe Creative Suite, Streaming platforms and equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand/follow directions
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Full range of creative tools and streaming background
  • Quality content and streaming production in a fast-tempo environment
  • Must successfully pass a background check

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree
  • Experience in a Collegiate Athletics setting

Responsibilities

  • Oversee existing equipment maintenance and updates for streaming components (tricaster, computers, cameras, etc.).
  • Oversee live webcasts of home athletic events.
  • Provide play-by-play commentary and color analysis.
  • Assign staffing for athletics/special events.
  • Develop relationships with external networks (e.g., FLO College, ESPN3, Lax Sports Network) to maximize exposure for Lynchburg teams.
  • Use new media platforms to highlight student-athlete experience and success.
  • Continue expansion of the reach and scope of athletic communications.
  • Develop relationships with staff, faculty, and student-athletes to better tell the story of the institution and its athletic department.
  • Recruit, train, and retain undergraduate student employees for webcasting, photography, and graphic design.
  • Build relationships with faculty in associated fields (communication studies, sport management, etc.).
  • Oversee a graduate assistant position and part-time/contract employees.
  • Work with students one-on-one to develop career skills.
