Director of Commercial Excellence

RapsodoSt. Louis, MO

About The Position

At Rapsodo, sustained growth depends on more than great products — it requires a senior leader who can serve as the strategic and analytical business partner to the General Manager and North America Leadership Team. This role exists to connect commercial performance, forecasting, business analytics, scenario planning, and cross-functional execution into a single operating discipline that enables better, faster decisions. As North America continues to expand across products, channels, and customer segments, the ability to operate with visibility, accountability, and execution discipline becomes increasingly important. Success requires strong coordination across commercial planning, forecasting, inventory readiness, sales and marketing operations, product launches, and business performance management. This role exists to build and continuously improve the commercial operating system that enables the business to execute with greater consistency and agility. By establishing the operating mechanisms, governance, analytics, and cross-functional processes that connect strategy with execution, this leader helps improve commercial performance, strengthen organizational alignment, and enable better, faster business decisions. In addition to serving as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and North America Leadership Team, this role provides leadership across the commercial operations function, ensuring the processes, technologies, reporting, forecasting and operating mechanisms that support the commercial organization enable disciplined execution and scalable growth. Working closely with leaders across Marketing, Sales, Product, Finance, Operations, Customer Support, and Business Systems, this individual will help improve the operating mechanisms, systems, and cross-functional processes that enable the organization to execute with greater consistency, visibility, and operational discipline. Partnering closely with the General Manager and the North America Leadership Team, this individual will play a critical role in shaping how the business plans, measures performance, allocates resources, and executes for long-term profitable growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Analytics, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Excellence, Business Operations, Commercial Strategy, Revenue Operations, Commercial Finance, Business Planning, or related leadership roles.
  • Demonstrated success supporting executive decision-making in a fast-paced, growth-oriented business.
  • Ability to independently build financial models, scenario analyses, and channel-level performance views that support executive resource allocation decisions — not just oversee the work of analysts.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product, Operations, and Supply Chain.
  • Demonstrated experience translating commercial demand forecasts into operational planning inputs — including inventory readiness, supply planning, or product launch execution in a hardware, consumer product, or multi-SKU business.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience supporting or analyzing performance across multiple commercial channels, including at least one of: Direct-to-Consumer, Retail, Amazon/ecommerce, or B2B distribution.
  • Proven ability to influence decisions without direct authority.
  • Experienced leading and developing small, high-output teams. This role leads a team of three and requires a player-coach mindset — equally comfortable setting direction, doing the analytical work, and presenting recommendations to executive leadership.

Nice To Haves

  • Background as a strategic and analytical business partner to a General Manager, Commercial Leader, Business Unit Leader, or Revenue Leader — in roles such as Director of Commercial Strategy, Director of Commercial Excellence, Director of Revenue Strategy, Commercial Finance Leader, or Business Operations Leader.
  • MBA or other advanced business degree.
  • Experience within consumer technology, hardware, SaaS, subscription, ecommerce, or other high-growth commercial businesses.
  • Experience leveraging CRM, ERP, commercial systems, and analytical tools to improve business performance. Helpful but secondary — this role prioritizes commercial judgment and analytical insight over systems administration.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation to improve business insights, reporting, forecasting, and operational effectiveness.

  • Establish the operating cadence, business reviews, executive dashboards, KPIs, and governance mechanisms that drive accountability and execution.
  • Develop and maintain a single source of truth for commercial performance across the business.
  • Improve reporting consistency, data quality, business visibility, and decision-making across functions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of commercial processes and operating mechanisms.
  • Lead commercial forecasting, demand planning, and annual business planning across North America.
  • Partner closely with Supply Chain and Operations to translate commercial demand forecasts into inventory readiness, supply planning, and successful product launches.
  • Develop executive reporting, dashboards, and business performance analytics across channels and business units.
  • Monitor business performance against plan, proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Build scenario models and business insights that support executive decision-making, resource allocation, and commercial planning.
  • Evaluate channel performance across Direct-to-Consumer, Amazon, Retail, Distribution, and B2B businesses.
  • Analyze promotional effectiveness, product performance, customer trends, and business profitability.

  • Ensure commercial technologies, CRM platforms, forecasting inputs, operational planning, and business processes effectively support business objectives.
  • Partner with Marketing, Product, Finance, Operations, Customer Support, and Business Systems to continuously improve commercial workflows, reporting capabilities, and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement across commercial systems, operational processes, forecasting, and business planning.
