About The Position

The Director of Operational Excellence is responsible for building and embedding Greystone’s operating system across teams, standardizing critical processes, and ensuring leaders are equipped to deliver consistent, high-quality results. This role will focus on preserving what built Greystone and build what allows Greystone to scale with consistency. This role blends strategic capability-building with hands-on operational execution, partnering closely with Operations, Safety, IT, Finance, and Human Resources to translate systems, data analytics, and technology into behavior change and measurable field outcomes. The individual will support leadership in improving efficiency, standardization, training, and overall business performance. The ideal candidate will transform data into actionable insights while leading operational initiatives, process improvements, and system optimization across Greystone.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in construction operations or continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of field operations and project delivery.
  • Results-orientated with proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Strong ability to coach, mentor and direct others; demonstrated skills in managing people and projects.
  • Able to apply sound judgment and problem-solving skills to complex projects and business challenges.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; communicate effectively with management, employees, customers, and vendors.
  • High level of motivation, integrity, and commitment to team and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement practical operating systems that improve consistency.
  • Identify breakdowns in execution and drive data-driven solutions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using data, root-cause analysis, and field feedback.
  • Integrate Lean construction practices.
  • Ensure adoption across operations.
  • Build and maintain playbooks and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Reduce reliance on tribal knowledge.
  • Build and maintain a company-wide knowledge management strategy.
  • Develop systems that capture, organize, and share operational knowledge.
  • Strengthen alignment between field, office and leadership teams.
  • Improve project startup, handoffs, and closeout processes.
  • Improve visibility into performance metrics and risk areas.
  • Enhance consistency across estimating, project management, and field operations.
  • Improve subcontractor coordination and commitment reliability through collaborative planning processes.
  • Coach and develop the operational team.
  • Strengthen accountability, communication, and execution.
  • Identify capability gaps.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, train, and manage a team to ensure top performance in achieving desired results while finding efficient and effective solutions that create overall organizational value.
  • Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) frameworks that provide visibility into performance and accountability.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Translate data into action for operational visibility.
  • Partner with IT to maximize system adoption and leverage SharePoint and other technologies as organizational knowledge platforms.
  • Improve workflow efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and workflows.
  • Improve utilization of core systems including Procore, Acumatica, Salesforce, SharePoint, Power BI, and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Facilitate change management related to new systems and technologies.
