About The Position

AJW Group is a world-leading independent specialist in the supply, exchange, repair and lease of aircraft spare parts. With over 90 years of aviation experience, AJW supports over 1000 airlines across 100 countries. One of the main divisions of the AJW Group is AJW Technique, a state-of-the-art component Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility with over 150 experienced and passionate technicians in Montreal. Our team is seeking our next Director of Human Resources. Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the executive leadership team, the successful candidate will act as a strategic partner and actively contribute to the organization’s growth, employee engagement, and talent retention, in alignment with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in human resources, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments, with the ability to navigate diverse organizational and labour relations contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian labour laws and Quebec employment regulations.
  • University degree in human resources, industrial relations, business administration, or a related field.
  • Fluency in both French and English, spoken and written to guarantee efficient interactions with all stakeholders (bilingualism required).

Nice To Haves

  • A graduate degree or professional certification (CHRP/CRHA) is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evolve the HR strategy in alignment with AJW Technique’s culture, vision, and business objectives.
  • Collaborate closely with the executive team on organizational, people, and performance related matters.
  • Lead all day-to-day human resources operations, including employee relations, labour relations, compensation, payroll, and benefits.
  • Act as a strategic partner in labour relations by fostering open, transparent, and constructive relationships, and contributing to the prevention and effective resolution of labour issues.
  • Provide strategic coaching to leaders and ensure a fair, respectful, and productive work environment.
  • Define and implement competitive total rewards strategies tailored to various employee groups within the organization.
  • Identify, develop, and retain key talent, including establishing succession plans for critical roles.
  • Design and deliver training programs for managers and cell leaders.
  • Support potential mergers and acquisitions by leading HR due diligence, and contributing to post-acquisition integration, while ensuring business continuity and alignment with the organization’s operating model.
  • Translate HR metrics into actionable insights, enabling data-driven recommendations and supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate on the optimization of HR systems to ensure scalable, data-driven HR operations.
  • Lead, engage, and develop a team of HR and payroll professionals.
