About The Position

Exiger is seeking a Director, Forward Deployed Strategy to lead customer-facing forward deployment work as a technical translator alongside forward deployed engineers. The role helps enterprise customers rapidly deploy AI-native solutions to complex supply chain and risk challenges. The director is accountable for successful customer implementations, independently turning loosely defined organizational problems into scoped roadmaps and keeping customers and technical teams aligned. The role partners with customer executives and operators to understand operational bottlenecks, produce program plans, identify risks, and drive mitigations. It translates customer needs into buildable requirements, aligns engineering effort with customer value, and coordinates stakeholders. It also drives organizational change through workshops, user-centered workflow design, and end-user training. The director works hands-on with customer data, inspecting structures, validating integrity, and conducting rapid prototyping and ad hoc analysis using SQL, Snowflake, Python, and R. The position serves as the voice of the customer by turning client-specific needs into reusable platform capabilities and communicating field requirements to product and engineering teams. The role is hybrid, based in McLean, Virginia or Richmond, Virginia, and requires travel of up to 25%.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of experience in operations consulting (such as Big Four, Accenture, or similar) or technology operations, including delivering or overseeing technology implementations or deployments.
  • A combination of technical aptitude, computational thinking, and data manipulation skills with strong communication, storytelling, and relationship-management skills.
  • Credibility to advise customer executives rather than simply take orders.
  • Proficiency querying and analyzing datasets with SQL and Snowflake, and light scripting skills in Python and R.
  • A solid understanding of enterprise software, data architecture, and cloud environments.
  • Exposure to the defense industrial base or heavy industrial sectors, including through consulting engagements; experience with highly engineered, long-lead-time products is ideal.
  • Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, fast-moving environments, delivery pressure, and bringing structure to chaos.
  • Must be based in the United States and a U.S. citizen.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to work directly with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supply chain risk management (SCRM), or in SCRM combined with compliance, such as trade, customs, or export compliance advisory.
  • Experience at a technology company in or adjacent to the SCRM and compliance space.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customer executives and operators to understand operational bottlenecks and translate ambiguous problems into scoped technical roadmaps.
  • Deliver clear program plans, surface critical risks, and drive mitigations with minimal hand-holding.
  • Bridge customers and forward deployed engineers by conveying customer needs in actionable terms and guiding customers toward designs that fit the platform's capabilities and rules.
  • Work alongside forward deployed builders to focus engineering effort on customers' highest-value problems.
  • Coordinate internal and customer stakeholders involved in each program.
  • Lead workshops, design user-centric workflows, and train end users to drive change and adoption.
  • Inspect customer data structures, validate data integrity, and conduct rapid prototyping and ad hoc analysis using SQL, Snowflake, Python, and R.
  • Help customers strategize agentic solutions.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by abstracting client-specific needs into reusable platform capabilities and relaying field requirements to product and engineering.

Benefits

  • Discretionary time off for all employees, with no maximum limits on time off.
  • Industry-leading health, vision, and dental benefits.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Flexible, hybrid approach to working from home and in the office where applicable.
  • Wellness stipends and dedicated wellness programming.
  • Purposeful career development programs with reimbursement for educational certifications.
