About The Position

Exiger is seeking a Director, Forward Deployed Strategy (also described as a Forward Deployed Strategist Director) to lead customer-facing forward deployment work alongside forward deployed engineers. The role helps enterprise customers rapidly deploy AI-native solutions to complex supply chain and risk challenges. The director is accountable for implementation success, translating unclear organizational problems into scoped technical roadmaps, and keeping customers and technical teams aligned with minimal hand-holding. The role also advises customers on agentic solutions for pressing and geopolitically sensitive issues. The position is based in McLean, Virginia, or Richmond, Virginia, with a hybrid work environment. It is US-based and requires US citizenship and the ability to travel up to 25% to work directly with customers.

Requirements

  • 4–6 years of experience in operations consulting (such as Big Four, Accenture, or similar) or technology operations, including delivery or oversight of technology implementations or deployments.
  • Technical aptitude, computational thinking, and data-manipulation skills combined with strong communication, storytelling, and relationship-management skills.
  • Credibility to advise customer executives rather than simply take orders.
  • Proficiency querying and analyzing datasets with SQL and Snowflake, and light scripting in Python and R.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise software, data architecture, and cloud environments; able to understand what is being built and engage credibly with technical counterparts, without being expected to build it personally.
  • Exposure to the defense industrial base or heavy industrial sectors, ideally involving highly engineered, long-lead-time products.
  • Ability to work independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments under delivery pressure and bring structure to chaos.
  • Must be US-based and a US citizen, with ability to travel up to 25% to work directly with customers.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in supply chain risk management (SCRM), or in SCRM combined with compliance, such as trade, customs, or export compliance advisory.
  • Experience at a technology company in or adjacent to the SCRM and compliance space.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with customer executives and operators to identify operational bottlenecks and translate problems into scoped technical roadmaps.
  • Develop clear program plans, surface critical risks, and drive mitigations with minimal hand-holding.
  • Bridge customers and technical teams by translating customer needs into buildable requirements and guiding customers toward designs that fit the platform's capabilities and rules.
  • Work with forward deployed builders to focus engineering efforts on customers' highest-value problems.
  • Coordinate internal and customer stakeholders involved in each program.
  • Lead workshops, design user-centric workflows, and train end users to support adoption and organizational change.
  • Inspect customer data structures, validate data integrity, and conduct rapid prototyping and ad hoc analysis using SQL, Snowflake, Python, and R.
  • Help customers strategize agentic solutions.
  • Represent the voice of the customer by translating client-specific needs into reusable platform capabilities and sharing field requirements with product and engineering teams.

Benefits

  • Discretionary time off with no maximum limits.
  • Industry-leading health, vision, and dental benefits.
  • Competitive compensation package.
  • 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • Flexible hybrid approach to working from home and in the office, where applicable.
  • Wellness stipends and dedicated wellness programming.
  • Career development programs with reimbursement for educational certifications.
