About The Position

Legacy Behavioral Health Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional for its Lowndes team. Under the supervision of the Site Manager, this role provides training and support to people with developmental disabilities in a 24/7 community residential program. The position supports individuals and families throughout South Georgia with behavioral health services and requires proficiency in computer skills.

The role involves working varied hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and may involve travel to off-campus locations in BHSGA or use of a personal vehicle. The employee must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stressful environment, meet deadlines, and handle routine and crisis situations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license with fewer than 5 points.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain CPR certification.
• Proficiency in computer skills.
• Ability to work varying hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Physical and emotional ability to work in a stress-filled environment and handle routine and crisis situations.
• Ability to travel to off-campus locations in BHSGA or use a personal vehicle.
• Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 45 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide skills training in daily living and community integration as outlined in each person’s Individual Service Plan.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary home environment in accordance with CARF safety regulations.
• Assist in coordinating transportation for persons served.
• Work collaboratively with fellow staff members to support high-quality IDD services.
• Monitor and document the progress of persons served in treatment.
• Provide monitoring, educational support, and crisis handling as needed.
