About The Position
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in community group-home residences in Somerset County. The role supports consumers’ skill development, daily living, personal care, domestic living, recreation, and socialization. The DSP also supports nutritional needs, meal planning and preparation, medication administration, and participation in community networks. The position is in person and pays $18.91 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.

- One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist consumers as needed with skill development, activities of daily living, personal care, domestic living, recreation, and socialization.
- Ensure assigned clients’ nutritional needs are met, including assisting with feeding as necessary.
- Assist consumers with nutritional planning, grocery shopping, and preparation of meals.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of consumers’ Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Train and support consumers in all areas of their ISPs.
- Assist with medication administration.
- Train and support consumers in the community, including social, recreational, cultural, religious, and educational networks.
